Role Overview

We’re looking for a Bookkeeping Lead to help manage the Bookkeeping team here at Heard. This person will oversee team members located in the Philippines who complete month-end closes, payroll reconciliations, year-end close and adjustments, and onboarding bookkeeping for new customers.

This person will build upon existing bookkeeping processes, improve overall bookkeeping quality and accomplish projects that align with the company’s goals of scaling the bookkeeping function through automation. They will report directly to the VP of Central Operations and work closely with various teams to improve the bookkeeping function at Heard.

The selected candidate must be based anywhere in the PST time zone or Hawaii.

  • Lead and manage a team of offshore bookkeepers, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback for continuous learning and improvement
  • Set performance targets for the team, monitor daily metrics and monthly performance targets, and meet quarterly objectives
  • Improve bookkeeping processes related, but not limited, to month-end close, year-end review, and quality assurance
  • Analyze bookkeeping metrics and reports to identify trends, and areas for improvement, and implement effective strategies to enhance team performance
  • Collaborate with and manage relationships with Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) partners to ensure efficient and effective delivery of services, including monitoring performance metrics and implementing process improvements
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as support and product development, to resolve complex customer issues and improve customer experience

  • Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in accounting
  • 2+ years of experience managing teams and assessing performance on a consistent basis
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills are a must
  • Strong analytical skills and experience reporting key metrics and learnings
  • Bonus: previous experience working remotely, knowledge of accounting and team-focused software, and/or a strong understanding of the difference in taxes for Sole Proprietors and S-Corps, and the effects on their bookkeeping needs
