The Role: Business & Accounting Support Analyst

Location:  Remote - with preference for those located near Dallas, Texas

Join our team as a Business & Accounting Support Analyst! In this role, you'll be diving into various aspects crucial for Hazel Health. From ensuring proper business licensure, to managing risk and tax support, your responsibilities will be diverse and impactful. You'll be responsible for establishing and maintaining business licenses at multiple levels, handling annual reporting requirements, and assisting with new state or jurisdiction entries. Additionally, you'll play a key role in risk management by supporting annual insurance renewals, maintaining insurance policy records, reviewing contracts for insurance compliance, and facilitating claims processes. On the tax front, you'll support in compiling tax files, tracking filing deadlines, and resolving notices from tax agencies. If you're someone who enjoys handling a variety of tasks, collaborating across teams, and ensuring compliance and efficiency, this role might be perfect for you. 

 

What You’ll Do:

Business Licensure

  • Ensure proper licensure is established for Hazel to serve students or employ people for Hazel Health Inc and managed Physician Groups. This includes but is not limited to Secretary of State registrations, Department of Revenue registrations, Department of Labor/Employment Security, Business Licenses at the State, County, City levels. 
  • Maintain DBA filings across all entities in the respective jurisdictions that are required by law.
  • Ensure annual and other mandated reporting is filed to respective jurisdictions as required by law. 
  • Ensure business licenses are renewed one time and shared with appropriate business partners.
  • Assist with new state/jurisdiction entry research on what is needed for employment of people or new revenue streams.

Risk Management

  • Support organization in annual business insurance renewals, partnering with brokers with data requests to obtain quotes. Upon renewals, ensure all our business partners have updated certificates of insurances.
  • Maintain complete listing of all our insurance policies and what each policy covers, reporting timelines, etc. 
  • Review both vendor and customer contracts to ensure we can meet the insurance terms. Provide red lines as needed. Upon execution of the agreements, work with brokers to obtain certificates of insurances.
  • Collaborate across the organization to stay abreast of potential claims and work with the brokers to ensure claim notifications are promptly filed.
  • Collaborate with the People Team to ensure workers compensation claims are filed. As the filing process changes, keep the People Team updated on those changes.
  • File monthly Workers Compensation reports to our insurance carrier so we can process our monthly premiums.

Tax Support

  • Support organization in pulling together tax files for our tax preparer. Interface with the tax preparers to ensure they have all the data they need to file our returns. 
  • Support organization in establishing tax accounts and tracking of filing deadlines. Assist in maintaining portal log ins and providing third party authorizations as applicable.
  • Support Accounting in tax filings in portals as needed.
  • Quarterly review of Payroll State Unemployment Insurance rates and maintain the rates entered in the payroll system.
  • Review and resolve notices from various tax agencies. Work with payroll processors as needed to resolve items that are handled by them.

What excites us:

  • 2+ years of overall experience in tax support, risk management, and business licensure
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience
  • Passion for our mission. 
  • Basic understanding of corporate structures, what the different federal, state and local agencies are and what they do.  
  • Basic knowledge of different business insurance policies.
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly. Aptitude to research and gather information. 
  • Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Self-motivated team player with strong ability to interact with others, work under pressure and adhere to deadlines.
  • Very strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to propose positive business solutions to complex problems.
  • Solid organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced evolving environment with focused attention to detail.
  • Team oriented and willingness to step in and help in areas outside your main focus.
  • Capability to build strong relationships and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Capability to manage sensitive information.
