THE POSITION

The Commercial Analytics Director will work closely with other Commercial Directors & the Commercial Vice President to drive the sportsbook commercial strategy, and act as liaison with stakeholders to ensure that it gets properly implemented across the organization. Concurrently, they will be responsible for driving key sportsbook initiatives and periodically reporting on outcomes to the leadership team. This role will be dedicated to optimizing our value proposition via a test & learn approach, partnering with several business functions, most notably, Risk & Trading, Marketing, and Product teams.

THE GAME PLAN

  • Responsible for leading complex cross-functional projects to deliver on company strategy.
  • Define hypotheses and design, execute, and analyze experiments to inform optimization of our sportsbook product for growth and long-term profitability.
  • Collaborate to define a medium-term experimentation roadmap focused on iterative learning to better understand our value proposition and inform our price and promotion strategy.
  • Grow our fact base as it relates to customer behavior, transactional data, market trends and customer research to better understand current state and inform future decisions.
  • Support iterative improvement of existing processes, procedures, and methodologies to ensure scientific rigor.
  • Support ideation and prioritization of novel sportsbook product capabilities.
  • Assess new opportunities and provide recommendations to senior stakeholders to drive the business to a higher level of profitability.
  • Contribute to knowledge-sharing with global counterparts & invest in continuous learning to ensure we’re embedding best practices.
  • Use subject matter expertise to drive actionable insights to drive revenue cross-functionally.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure customer centricity is at the core of what we do

 

THE STATS
What we're looking for in our next teammate

  • 8+ years of relevant work experience in an analytical, technical or commercial field preferred with 3+ years of management experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in a highly numerate major (Math, Stats, Econ, etc.) or relevant experience in data and/or business analysis
  • Proficiency in SQL and Excel required
  • Ability to use languages for analysis, Python, R, Spark preferred
  • Demonstrated experience using data visualization software to convey insights in an easy to digest format. Preferred experience working with Tableau for data visualization.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills - demonstrable track record of influencing up, down and across organizations
  • Strategic mindset: takes a long-term view and anticipates future trends and implications
  • Commercial acumen: advanced understanding of P&L, business principles and commercial levers
  • Loves learning and seeks new challenges
  • Knowledge of sports and/or experience working within a heavily regulated industry is a plus

The applicable salary range for this position is $166,000 - $227,700 USD, which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs and market demand. This role may offer the following benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) matching program; among other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses and stock program participation. This role includes paid personal time off and 14 paid company holidays. FanDuel offers paid sick time in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.

Please note that the actual salary for this position may vary, as it is dependent on various factors including but not limited to experience, location, and market dynamics.
