SUMMARY

The Director, Pricing Analytics & Strategy will manage our Pricing team in developing long-term and short-term pricing strategies and monitoring and pricing inventory with a focus on revenue optimization. You will assist in all aspects of the revenue management program including analytics, reporting, new opportunity identification, and strategic development. This position will lead scheduled and ad-hoc reporting and tool/application development. You will be front and center in the execution of our overall pricing and selling strategies while testing and refining tactical decisions autonomously.

The Director, Pricing Analytics & Strategy reports to the Vice President of Revenue Strategy. This role will work on Brooklyn Nets, NY Liberty, and Barclays Center events.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Manage and develop the Pricing Analytics and Strategy team.
  • Navigate large historical and current season data sets, build reports to assist in the creation of short-term and long-term business distribution and pricing strategies.
  • Examine historical sales data in conjunction with real-time market prices to determine demand-supply dynamics on current inventory.
  • Conduct market research and quantitative analysis to devise and implement long-term and short-term pricing and inventory management strategies, recommendations and set price levels.
  • Closely monitor sales trends and market sales.
  • Create reports with comprehensive price analysis at the season and individual event level; build datasets and visualizations to help identify pricing and inventory trends and monitor the health of the marketplace.
  • Adjust pricing and inventory in company ticketing systems daily.
  • Work closely with other Analytics team members to identify trends and opportunities to implement differing pricing strategies.
  • Become a subject matter expert and act as a liaison to partners and other teams/leagues on marketplace performance, inventory management, and pricing strategies; work alongside industry colleagues to gather actionable insights from competitive pricing and inventory trends.
  • Supplement Business Intelligence and application development staff to continually improve current tools and technology product offerings;

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 4+ years experience in a pricing or inventory management/strategy related capacity.
  • Prior ticketing experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in data analysis; Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, etc) expertise highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Power Point, Word required.
  • Proficiency in the usage of Structured Query Language (MySQL, NoSQL, PostgreSQL) and at least one of the following programming languages: Python, R, Java is preferred.
  • Experience evaluating, analyzing, and recommending pricing strategies.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI or Tableau is preferred.

  • Possess strong statistical and quantitative skills and excellent interpersonal communication skills to effectively manage large amounts of ticket inventory while articulating strategies to senior leadership.
  • General knowledge of sports (i.e. understanding impact of event context).
  • Highly ethical and discrete; respects, protects and maintains confidential information including company documents and records.
  • Keen attention to detail, strong conflict resolution, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Must be a flexible and reliable teammate, always acting in the best interest of their department and the company as a whole.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain productive, positive relationships through strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates a strong ability to manage one’s own time and prioritize tasks when given clearly defined goals and objectives.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

May be required to travel on rare occasions (<5% travel); trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay for one or more nights.

SALARY RANGE

$125,000 - $145,000

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Works primarily in an office environment but is expected to work late hours when critical tasks arise and attend games and other events on evenings, weekends and holidays. Various events will require working evening and weekend hours in order to see the sales cycle through to completion.
