The role

The Commercial Director, Obesity, will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive commercial strategy to establish Numan as the leader in obesity care in the UK. This role involves overseeing the commercial success of Numan's holistic, digitally enabled obesity care proposition, and the commercialisation of novel obesity treatments.

The ideal candidate is a highly strategic thinker with a proven track record in D2C healthtech, or a related industry, possessing the ability to translate market insights into actionable business plans. They will have full profit and loss (P&L) responsibility, driving profitable revenue growth. They will play a critical role in shaping Numan's obesity commercial strategy, expanding our revenue lines, and growing the category. They will have a collaborative approach working closely with key internal stakeholders across functions.

You’ll be:
  • Developing and executing a robust commercial strategy for Numan’s obesity treatment proposition, ensuring alignment with the company’s overall strategic objectives and market opportunities.
  • Leading and optimising existing revenue lines, overseeing the P&L performance, implementing strategies to maximise revenue growth and profitability.
  • Collaborating closely with Growth & Marketing to identify and capitalise on market opportunities, enhance brand presence, and drive customer acquisition with profitable unit economics.
  • Working in tandem with Product to align commercial strategies with product development and innovation, ensuring that new and existing offerings result in outstanding patient experiences.
  • Identifying and developing strategies for expanding into new treatments, ensuring a seamless market entry and rapid growth, by building on learnings and synergies with existing categories and patient segments.
  • Identifying and launching new distribution channels that expand Numan’s reach, and partnerships that deepen the patient experience.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with key strategic partners, stakeholders, and external vendors to support business objectives.
  • Leading, mentoring, and developing a high-performing team to achieve commercial objectives, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Staying abreast of industry trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory changes to inform strategic planning and risk management.
  • Using robust market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive landscape insights in the obesity treatment sector.
  • Monitoring performance metrics and financial outcomes, providing regular updates and strategic recommendations to the executive team.

  • We’re looking for someone who has:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business, STEM, Life Sciences, or related field; MBA or relevant graduate degree preferred.
  • Extensive experience in a commercial leadership role, business development, or a similar strategic role in the tech, healthcare, or digital solutions sectors - in a direct-to-consumer (D2C) setting.
  • Proven track record of successful P&L management and driving revenue growth at a scale of hundreds of millions of pounds, preferably with experience in launching new products or services and expanding into international markets.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry, having to collaborate and influence regulatory bodies at the frontier of change in an industry.
  • Strong leadership skills with a history of building and mentoring successful teams.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking abilities, with the capability to translate insights into actionable strategies.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, able to engage effectively with internal teams, partners, and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience in healthtech or medtech is a plus, as is an understanding of the obesity treatment market, including regulatory considerations, market dynamics, and emerging pharmacological treatments.
