Belleville Senators Company Description:
The Belleville Senators Hockey Cub is the Bay of Quinte’s pro hockey team and American Hockey League Affiliate of the Ottawa Senators. We play all 36 of our home games at the CAA Arena located in the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre at 265 Cannifton Rd., Belleville, ON.
Job Description:
The Belleville Senators are looking for dedicated, enthusiastic and energetic individuals to take on the role of Communications Assistant for the 2024-25 AHL season. Communications Assistants will report to the Manager, Broadcast & Communications and are responsible for supporting the Communications Department, primarily on game days, and other tasks as needed throughout the season.
Responsibilities
- Support the department with writing, editing, and distribution of media materials, including the media guide, game notes, press releases, media alerts, and fact sheets
- Set up and maintain media room and press box area at CAA Arena on game nights
- Assist with media accreditation, credential distribution, in-game media needs, and post-game media availabilities
- Assist with the collection and production of game day content including post-game interviews, highlights, and game stories (remotely for road games)
- Assist with the coordination and operation of media events, campaigns and press conferences
- Statistical research projects and roster compilation, research and planning for special projects as assigned
- Track, monitor, categorize and share media coverage and daily press clippings
- Contribute other content for the Belleville Sens website and social media platforms as required
- Continually work with the department to proof content, releases, etc.
- Other duties as required and agreed upon
Requirements
- Enrolled in a post-secondary program, or hold a college diploma or university degree (preferably in Communications, Broadcast, Journalism, or a related field) is preferred
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Knowledge of Office365, Adobe Creative Suite (e.g. Premiere, Audition, Photoshop), and similar programs
- Possess strong organizational skills, be self-motivated, and creative
- Be able to handle multiple projects at one time, be detail-oriented, and work well under pressure
- Knowledge of hockey, the Belleville Senators, and the AHL landscape
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by the AHL schedule
