Major League Baseball is seeking a Coordinator, Content Strategy for an immediate opening based in New York, NY. The position will manage distribution strategy and testing around MLB’s digital content efforts. In this role, you will maintain a cohesive production and distribution strategy for MLB’s content. 

You will work on MLB’s audience development team to expand the reach of baseball and use data-driven strategies to reach fans. The role blends analytics, editorial, and marketing. You will work independently to spearhead new projects, as well as work collaboratively with MLB’s editorial, product, social media, marketing, and design teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Inform the strategy for engagement and growth both on and off MLB’s owned-and-operated platforms.
  • Integrate industry-wide KPIs, perform audits, and make recommendations for content optimization.
  • Collaborate with product, editorial, video, social, and various other teams to target challenges and construct both short- and long-term solutions.
  • Track and optimize search performance, including keyword research, strategic optimization of existing content, competitor analysis, site improvements, and internal SEO audits.
  • Educate teams with best practices documentation and lead regular SEO training.
  • Create dashboards, run reports, measure daily performance, conduct post-analysis of editorial initiatives, and share insights with stakeholders.
  • Monitor traffic following algorithm updates and act fast to recover.
  • Work with the audience development team to develop strategies to best optimize content across all platforms including but not limited to homepage, social media, newsletters, marketing, etc. 

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years’ experience at a news organization, sports organization, media company, or creative agency with experience in content optimization.
  • Knowledge of off-platform growth strategies and expertise in overseeing engagement metrics, distribution methods, and SEO best practices.
  • An aptitude for content creation strategies, and the ability to decide the needs of various channels and coordinate and execute the best possible formats for each.
  • Experience with database queries and analytics, including Adobe Analytics, Chartbeat, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, or similar web/video analytics tools.
  • Proficiency with data visualization tools, such as Microsoft Excel and Tableau.
  • An interest in, and comfort with, datasets, testing and QAing performance metrics.
  • A familiarity with sports and entertainment industries.

Per the NYC pay transparency law, the hiring range for this position is $58,500 - $65,000.

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills and any other factors Major League Baseball (MLB) considers relevant to the hiring decision. In addition to your salary, MLB believes in providing a competitive compensation and benefits package for its employees.
