THE POSITION
Our roster has an opening with your name on it

We're looking for a Senior Data Engineering Manager to contribute to FanDuel’s growing data and analytical needs. Leading a number of teams, working directly with their respective Engineering Manager, looking to build out our next-generation data platform leveraging new technologies and techniques to maximize the value out of our data assets and empower employees to innovate.

The role is accountable for developing and maintaining data ingestion platforms, both batch and real-time, and providing trusted datasets to our stakeholders to enable correct and timely decision making to support customer activities. It also includes creating the right culture to enable a high performing data engineering teams and managing 3rd party development partners. 

This role also focuses on the long-term vision of the Data Platform vertical to ensure our services meet the ongoing needs of the business.

  • You will be supporting a group of engineering managers in their technical and personal development.
  • You will act as their primary point of contact, providing them regular feedback and guidance.
  • You need to care deeply about the people you manage, coaching them on areas for development, celebrating their achievements and recognizing their strengths.
  • You should be able to communicate your team's goals and vision, and how that relates to the wider organization.
  • You will also take part in a range of activities to improve the wider department, including recruitment, mentoring and evolving our development practices.


THE STATS
What we're looking for in our next teammate

  • We are looking for someone who can exercise and develop their core leadership skills both from a technical and people management point of view and has a passion for imparting knowledge and a proven ability to grow a team and lead it to success.
  • A strong technology background, with experience in both data and software engineering,
  • You have experience in orchestrating and processing large volumes of data in a mix of batch and streaming fashion
  • Experience of working with cross-functional teams, including Product Managers. Technical Program Managers and other stakeholders to define the roadmap for data products and translate this into user stories
  • Ability to manage multiple projects across all product verticals and coordinate delivery activities
  • You feel comfortable communicating with both technical and non-technical team members
  • You have experience of managing both Individual Contributors and other fellow Engineering Managers.
  • Proficiency in some of the tools and technologies we use internally, including Kafka, Airflow, Databricks, AWS, Spark, Python and Java

The applicable salary range for this position is $167,000 - $215,000, which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs and market demand. This role may offer the following benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) matching program; among other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses and stock program participation. This role includes paid personal time off and 14 paid company holidays. FanDuel offers paid sick time in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.
