Let’s start with the role

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Data Protection Specialist to join KAIZEN’s LATAM data protection team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in data protection compliance operations. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to implement appropriate operating procedures, conduct risk assessments, and ensure that data handling practices align with industry best practices.

As a Data Protection Specialist, you will:
  •  Advise stakeholders on the various data protection related risks, obligations, and other privacy issues;
  • Serve as the contact person for local data protection authorities and data subjects, monitor and ensure that all notifications or other regulatory obligations are met in a timely fashion;
  • Support privacy-related projects driven by the Group DPO;
  • Cultivate a privacy-driven culture, focusing on a proactive approach;
  • Perform evaluation/ due diligence of third party service providers and ensure data-related contracts are in place with data processors, as well as adequate measures of protection as regards international data transfers;
  • Accurately identify/evaluate data processing activities to ensure compliance with applicable laws, ensure that relevant records are appropriately maintained and updated;
  • Enhance awareness and provide training to employees regarding general and specific data protection topics;
  • Performing periodical reviews on technical and organizational measures, assessing information security measures and implementing appropriate technical and organizational measures in cooperation with the local and central IS teams;
  • Communicate with the respective supervisory authority in case of a data breach, acting as the principal contact for data breaches for the markets falling under his/her responsibility;
  • Monitor DSRs and provide assistance in the provisions of replies to data subjects when needed;
  • Keeping up to date on compliance with applicable local legislation in assigned jurisdictions.

What you’ll bring:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of proven experience in Data Protection law or a relevant role (compliance, IS, tech compliance, audit);
  • Certifications/training from any internationally recognized organizations in Data Protection, IS / Compliance will be considered an asset;
  • Bachelor's Degree in law
  • Excellent command of Spanish and English (written and spoken) is a must;
  • Enhanced understanding of the legislative framework in all applicable jurisdictions;
  • Familiarity with industry practices and professional standards;
  • Project management skills;
  • Independent, goal-oriented, and systematic way of working;
  • Attention to detail and ability to demonstrate an analytical mind;
  • Clear and concise verbal and written skills;
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
