Reporting to the Executive Producer, a Development Director 2 keeps the project schedule and helps move the development team from one project phase to the next while ensuring collaboration and communication both on the immediate team and with other partner teams within the studio. A Development Director manages a variety of disciplines including artists, designers, software engineers, QA and other production staff. You will partner with production to ensure that they are managing the project on time, to quality, and within budget.
This role is a full-time, on-site position based 5 days a week at our Downtown Vancouver studio.

Leadership:
Takes on a more strategic role in partnership with the Senior Producer to shape the long-term vision and goals for live game development.
Provides senior leadership in managing and cultivating the project teams, focusing on studio-wide process improvement initiatives.
Leads the charge in advocating for employee career development and engagement, ensuring team members have opportunities for growth and advancement.
Drives and implements studio-wide process improvement initiatives, setting a high standard for operational excellence.
Project Management:
Collaborates closely with key project stakeholders to not only establish schedules and resource requirements but also contributes to defining and shaping the project's strategic objectives.
Proactively identifies dependencies and priorities between tasks, providing insights and recommendations to the project teams to optimize project execution.
Oversees project progress within assigned budgets, employing advanced project management strategies to manage changes, risks, and resources, and ensuring clear and effective communication throughout.
Development:
Takes a more hands-on role in developing the team's skills, processes, and best practices, actively participating in mentorship and training efforts.
Creates an environment where staff members are not only aligned with the company's goals but are empowered to innovate and take ownership of their work.
Solves complex problems with a focus on optimizing efficiency and achieving exceptional results through creative and strategic solutions.
Execution:
Assigns and aligns task goals with the project's defined objectives, emphasizing the broader strategic impact of each task on the project and company.
Manages and balances scope at a high level, ensuring that projects are delivered within timelines, budget constraints, and quality standards.
Collaborates closely with producers to optimize scope, timeline, and quality targets, working to ensure the successful delivery of projects while mitigating risks and challenges.
To be successful in this role, your background includes:
Bachelor’s degree in related field or certification in project management, with a focus on Agile methodologies.
8+ years of project management experience in entertainment and/or software development industry.
3+ years in a leadership role with strong people management skills.
Experience setting up and running project management tools such as JIRA, and also comfortable using resource management tools to track, model and analyze resource allocation.
Deep understanding of games as a service business model.
High degree of initiative and the ability to proactively identify opportunities to improve.
Knowledge of JIRA and other PM tools.
Effective communication skills with the proven ability to influence outcomes across all levels of organization.
Excellent change management skills, i.e., comfortable with ambiguity and constant change, yet able to set priorities and execute commitments.
