About the Role & Team
The Director of Motion Design at PENN Entertainment is a pivotal creative leadership role responsible for elevating and integrating motion design across our suite of digital products, including theScore, ESPN Bet, iCasino, and Penn Play. Reporting directly to the Head of Design & User Experience, this leader will also produce impactful product marketing videos and sizzles, enhancing user engagement through dynamic and personalized motion graphics.
In this role, the Director will partner closely with the Head of Design & User Experience to weave motion design seamlessly into both the digital and physical aspects of PENN Entertainment’s broad array of entertainment venues and gaming facilities. This position requires a creative pioneer who excels at merging digital innovation with real-world user interactions to elevate brand narrative and engagement. As the leader of this department, you will be tasked with articulating complex concepts through motion design—a medium unparalleled in its ability to present ideas dynamically and with crystal clarity. Your strategic insight will be instrumental in developing and implementing motion design systems that bridge our digital and physical platforms, thereby redefining standards for user interaction and visual storytelling.
As part of an innovative leadership team, the Director will collaborate directly with product managers, engineering leads, and marketing teams to ensure that motion design strategies effectively support business objectives and resonate with users across all platforms. This position is designed for a leader skilled in navigating complex ecosystems and passionate about creating compelling, integrated visual experiences.
About the Work
Lead and expand a team of motion designers, setting the creative direction and strategic integration of motion graphics across all digital platforms.
Establish and enforce principles for motion design across the entire PENN ecosystem, enhancing brand consistency and user interaction.
Oversee the production of product marketing videos and sizzles, aligning with strategic marketing objectives to enhance product visibility and user engagement.
Develop personalized motion design strategies that connect with users and reinforce brand identity.
Maintain a deep understanding of the latest trends and technologies in motion design, ensuring the team is at the forefront of industry advancements.
Manage project timelines and resources, ensuring high-quality deliverables that meet strategic and operational goals.
Represent the motion design team in strategic meetings, delivering insights and visual strategies to senior stakeholders across the organization.

About You
Proven Leadership : 10+ years in motion design with strategic leadership experience, ideally within the entertainment, gaming, or technology sectors. Demonstrated ability to build and lead creative teams.
Technical Expertise : Extensive experience with Figma, Rive, Adobe After Effects, Premiere, Cinema4D, and other relevant motion design and video editing software.
Innovative Thinking : Ability to think creatively and strategically about integrating personalized motion into user experiences. A pioneer in adopting new technologies and methodologies in motion design.
Operational Excellence : Experience managing creative projects in a fast-paced, agile environment. Proficient in project management and familiar with the latest industry best practices.
Communication & Collaboration : Exceptional skills in communication and collaboration, adept at aligning cross-functional teams and stakeholders to achieve common goals.
Remote Team Management : Experience in leading remote workgroups and maintaining a productive and inclusive team culture remotely.
Cultural Leadership : Proven ability to cultivate a positive, inclusive work environment that empowers design teams to thrive and produce their best work.
Team building : Sourcing and growing talent, must have skills to identify and mentor motion leaders in the industry and effectively integrate them into the PENN team
Design Systems thinking Approach: You emphasize on a holistic, user-centric perspective in the design & development of products, integrating principles of design thinking, system thinking, and user experience to with consideration of scalability across all products.
Motion Design is a unique and elevated form of articulation; as the leader of this department, you should be proficient in effectively synthesizing partner and stakeholder ideas and communicating them to any audience in a clear and compelling way.
You have an ability to develop visual metaphors; motion can show a complete thought from start to finish in the most dynamic and efficient way (arguably clearer than any other discipline)
You will define and enforce the principles for motion design across the entire PENN ecosystem.
You should know how to successfully evangelize new technologies and workflows across teams, aligning partners on innovative motion implementation
