Role Overview:

The Environmental Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring that all products, materials, packaging, and retail activities comply with environmental, substance, and labelling regulations across the U.S., Canada and Latin America. 

This role oversees compliance programmes, monitors emerging legislation, and supports cross-functional teams with accurate, timely compliance guidance and reporting.

What you’ll be doing:

Environmental Compliance 

  • Track and interpret emerging environmental legislation in the U.S. Canada and Latin America affecting our products, packaging and operations, ensuring compliance with those requirements for SIE and its subsidiaries.
  • Ensure Environmental information requirements are in place for our products, packaging and E-commerce site.
  • Manage US and LATAM substance compliance requirements affecting our products, including TSCA. California Prop 65. PFAS, WEEE and RoHS
  • Complete SIE's environmental reporting and auditing obligations, including Canada's Federal Plastic Registry, Lacey Act, Quebec R&R, California SB1215 and PFAS reporting
  • Advise design engineers on SIE's packaging obligations and ensure compliance to federal and state requirements including NJDEP Recycled Content Law, California SB54 and California Rigid Plastic Packaging Container program.
  • Support legal and ESG with right to repair reporting and documentation as required.
  • Manage US (State and Federal), Canada and Latin America Energy Efficiency requirements and testing/certification needs.
  • Support raw material reporting and other retailer-specific compliance programmes. (EPR validation audits/ FAMA / Thesis)
  • Advise on Environmental compliance to SIE stakeholders and their subsidiaries as the Regional Compliance Point of Contact.

Consumer Information 

  • Manage E-commerce compliance requirements covering point of sale obligations.
  • Support global consumer information processes focusing on labelling (e.g Country of origin, care instructions and marketspecific variations).
  • Ensure adherence to regional consumer information regulations, warnings, and disposal guidance.

Retail, licensing and brand Compliance

  • Support third party merchandise due diligence process for E-commerce distribution.
  • Oversee retail and brand compliance activities, ensuring registrations, audits and enquiries are completed with efficient sharing of information, including Disney FAMA ILS supplier registrations / Walmart Thesis reporting/ retail set up enquiries.
  • Support the wider Environment and Technical Compliance team, as required:
  • Deliver compliance training and guidance across internal teams.
  • Undertake general administrative and system-based tasks/ provide holiday cover where required.

What we’re looking for:

Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant undergraduate degree.
  • Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in environmental or product compliance within retail, consumer goods, electronics, or a relevant regulated industry.

Skills & Competencies

  • Ability to interpret complex environmental, substance and packaging regulations and translate them into clear business requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage large datasets for reporting (e.g., packaging, material inputs, substance data).
  • Excellent stakeholder management with experience influencing product, sourcing, commercial and operational teams.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple regulatory programmes simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated experience working with stakeholders across a global complex matrix organisation.
  • Good IT skills - Proficient in all of Microsoft Office, SAP experience beneficial.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.
$116,400$174,600 USD
