Job Description

We're putting together a talented team to build the #1 training platform for Runners

We help everyday runners become outstanding by building an incredible app providing world-class training, coaching and community for everyone, whether you're improving your 5k time or training for your first marathon.

We’re growing extremely fast! In November 2023 we closed a $6.5M funding round led by JamJar with participation from Eka Ventures, Venrex and Creator Ventures. In 2024, we were selected by Apple as one of three global finalists for the 2024 iPhone App of the Year, reflecting the innovation and impact of what we’ve built & now in 2025 we have just been acquired by Strava! 🤯 🎉

Our ambition is huge: to become the go-to global leading training platform for millions of runners everywhere. We’re growing with purpose and looking for people who want to build something meaningful with lasting impact. With the recent acquisition by Strava accelerating our journey, now is a really magical time to join 🚀

The Team You’ll Join

We’re seeking a passionate and driven Events Manager to cover maternity leave for 9 months on a FTC basis. If you are passionate about community and events, love celebrating personal bests and have experience in driving brand engagement, you could be the perfect fit for our growing community as we activate our event calendar.

Requirements

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will be part of the team who build tailored experiences for local communities, create innovative pop-ups and activations at marathon majors, and represent Runna in the best possible light at all IRL experiences. The events team ensures that runners don’t just train with Runna, they feel part of something bigger.

Through these events, Runna strengthens its community, deepens brand loyalty, and turns digital connections into real-world relationships. Every touchpoint is crafted to inspire, delight, and showcase the best of what it means to be a Runna.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead event activations, including Runna's owned events at marathon majors and First to Fast Race Series in the UK, along with partner race village activations - ensuring activations deliver on business goals and community growth.
  • Lead brand partner activations, building strong relationships to support the partnership and brand team on delivering on a wider campaign.
  • Work with the partnerships team to maximise partner and brand relationships and deliverables.
  • End to end planning, organising and executing of our activation calendar, working across departments (partnerships, ambassadors, brand, design, socials) to execute in a premium and consistent way.
  • Coordinate logistics such as securing venues, managing registrations (working with our CRM and social teams to market events in the best possible way), plus liaising and managing vendors.
  • Budget management, invoicing and reconciliation.
  • Ensure health, safety, insurance, and risk management plans are in place for all events.
  • Mentor and support the UK events associate, empowering them to take ownership.
  • Liaise with Runna team and volunteer coordination to staff each event, briefing teams and coaches on responsibilities.
  • Source and manage physical Runna branded materials (e.g., flags and gantries) along with management of our storage and inventory.
  • Analyse event performance and community feedback to enhance future events - reporting results on attendance, engagement and conversions, back to the wider team.

What You’ll Bring To The Team

We prioritise passion over experience but we do require at least 5 years of proven event experience, ideally with an agency background, leading and executing brand or in-house events.

  • Strong project management skills, organised to collaborate across teams and time zones, while also keen to contribute to ideation in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactively drive projects forward, managing production timelines, and communicating with the wider teams to secure event details.
  • Proven experience delivering large-scale events - please demonstrate in your cover letter and/or supporting portfolio.
  • Understanding of design and artwork processes; briefing our design team to create necessary artwork and meeting print deadlines with suppliers.
  • Identify and manage key suppliers, including but not limited to location/venue, build & fabrication, tech and AV, graphics and branding, merchandise and staffing.
  • Detail-oriented with a can-do attitude and ownership mindset.
  • Strong verbal communication skills are essential.
  • A natural leader, comfortable engaging with audiences and leading events.
  • Willing to learn and share knowledge with the team.
  • Experience mentoring and growing junior team members.
  • Must have a full, clean driving license and confident to drive in London and the UK to live events
