THE CHALLENGE:
 

The Financial Controls Specialist will join the Financial Controls team established to oversee and ensure the timely delivery of a high-quality SOX404 program, management and operation of internal controls and special project(s) in accordance with professional standards and Sportradar guidelines. Reporting to the Senior Manager-Financial Controls, the main goal of this role is advising the business on appropriate ICFR/SOX business process controls including the implementation, design and testing strategy to identify and mitigate material risk while meeting expectations of key stakeholders and external auditors.

 

The successful candidate will have experience of delivering internal control frameworks and remediating business controls. This will include working with the financial controls team and the wider Finance Team, to provide support and subject matter expertise across the Groups’ functions in order to drive the development and continual improvement of the Sportradar’s internal controls framework.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support with the Risk & Control Matrix (RACM), process flowcharts and other documentation.
  • Assist the Financial Controls Senior Manager in the design, implementation of the Group’s internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Assist with the documentation of relevant related policies and procedures.
  • Assist with Sox scoping and planning considerations.
  • Support the Business implementing Sox controls for new in-scope business or acquisitions.
  • Perform test of controls on a periodic basis and provide support and guidance to control owners and operators.
  • Work together with the SOX IT Compliance team to ensure the Group’s IT control framework meets SOX compliance requirements.
  • Support the internal and external Sox audits, assisting to coordinate walkthroughs, testing and progress.
  • Manage the evaluation of any control deficiencies identified by internal or external audit and work with control owners to implement any required remediation.
  • Drive consistency, quality and continuous improvement of business processes and controls.
  • Assist with special projects (i.e. process improvements, system implementations, control re-designs).
  • Assist in providing internal controls training to control owners.
  • Perform limited assurance internal controls testing at non-Sox entities.

 

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, accounting, finance, systems or related field.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, SOX, COSO, financial and/or IT risks and controls, and leading business practices.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or comparable certification required
  • As an ideal candidate, you have previous 3+ years of proven experience in working in a financial position in a similar industry or with a Big4 company 
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken) German is a plus
  • Strong written and inter-personal skills
  • Proven ability to thrive in a creative, dynamic, fast-paced environment, and work both independently and in a team environment, shifting between the role of an individual contributor, team player, project manager, and strategist
