POSITION SUMMARY

The Head Coach will lead efforts, in conjunction with LAFC technical staff, to advance LAFC 2 to ensure continued success both in terms of players and competitive results. 

This role will report to the Technical Director. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead coaching duties during MLS Next Pro regular season and playoff games, including all team exhibitions, tournaments, and friendly matches. 
  • Responsible for overall team strategy and roster selection. 
  • Partner with LAFC technical staff to identify and hire coaching staff as needed.  
  • Lead training activities including technical exercises, tactics, and individual training.  
  • Prepare for home and away games by scouting and studying opponents, evaluating their strengths and weaknesses for offensive and defensive set pieces. 
  • Review game video and analyze team performance with coaching staff. 
  • Scout and evaluate potential players and trades. 
  • Collaborate with first team coaches in MLS draft. 
  • Oversee offseason player development programs. 
  • Enforce and ensure team and MLS Next Pro policies and procedures are adhered to. 
  • Ensure team culture, identity, and playing philosophy is aligned with LAFC Academy and LAFC first team. 
  • Attend and speak at post-game press conferences and other media obligations as required. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a professional coach within MLS, MLS Next Pro, USL, USSF required. Head coach experience is a plus. 
  • USSF “A” or equivalent coaching license required. 
  • Experience working with Academy/Youth team. 
  • Possess a positive and optimistic attitude to lead and inspire the team. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently – both verbal and written. 
  • Ability to work productively and multi-task in an unstructured environment with frequent interruptions.  
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as the season requires.  
  • Bilingual in Spanish is plus. 

SALARY RANGE 

At LAFC, we carefully consider a wide range of factors to determine a fair and equitable compensation package. The final offer amount will consider a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to skill sets; relevant experience and training. Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure guidelines, the overall range for this role is $100,000 - $150,000 per year.
