Immersive Team Manager

We seek an experienced Mobile and Game-Engine Engineering Team Lead for our technical client services team to deliver cutting-edge, immersive experiences for international clientele. This person will hire and lead a team that extends and deploys custom projects on our in-house platform. These projects explore and develop innovative ideas, pushing the boundaries of what's possible within immersive experiences. 

The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in 3D applications and rendering, extensive experience in Unity (or a similar game engine) development, and a demonstrated track record of successfully deploying bespoke solutions on time and under budget. In this role, you will lead a team to extend and deploy custom projects on our in-house platform and explore and develop innovative moonshot ideas, pushing the boundaries of what's possible within the realm of immersive experiences.

Requirements

• Team Leadership:
• Lead and inspire a team of engineers, technical artists, and designers to achieve project goals and deliver exceptional immersive experiences.
• Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture, encouraging continuous learning and development.
• Mentor team members and help them develop their careers.

• Project Management:
• Partner with the technical producer to develop milestones and an overall roadmap.
• Oversee the end-to-end project lifecycle, from concept to deployment and maintenance, ensuring the successful delivery of bespoke custom projects for internal clients.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather requirements, provide technical insights, and define project scopes.

• Technical Expertise:
• Both hands-on programming experience as well as experience managing external contractors to ensure deliverables meet expectations
• Define and implement coding standards and a definition of done
• Guide the concept development with your expertise in 3D and mobile engineering to appropriately scope the work for a given project.
• Establish and manage the operational and engineering excellence for the team.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and technological advancements to inform decision-making and keep projects at the forefront of innovation.
• Using your business and technical judgment to inform the platform team on feature prioritization.
• Collaborate with developers to identify areas for improvement, streamline workflows, and optimize performance.

• Sales Support and Moonshot Exploration:
• Using first principles to identify areas for investment in R&D that have the potential to change the way people interact online.
• Develop concepts and other demos to help support the enterprise sales team.
• Drive the development of custom solutions that build upon the existing platform, contributing to the company's innovation roadmap.

Communication:

• Working with a technical producer, provide concise and regular status updates on schedule and any risks encountered.
• A complete understanding of Client driven projects, expectation management, and both precise and accurate communication around deliverables scope and timelines. 
• Working with the customer facing team to manage expectations and communication flows

Qualifications

• Proven experience in 3D design and Unity development, with a strong portfolio of completed immersive projects.
• Experience shipping (full lifecycle) at least one mobile application on both iOS and Android, bonus if you have experience managing external contractors.
• 5+ years of 3D development in Unity or Unreal
• 5+ years of full stack development, preferably with both mobile and web frontends, Ruby experience a bonus.
• Demonstrated leadership experience, managing and mentoring technical teams including external contractors.
• In-depth knowledge of immersive technologies, VR/AR/XR, and 3D graphics both native and on the web, bonus if you have experience with streaming video and live event production.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively to overcome challenges.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
