As Manager of Tax Compliance and Reporting (Indirect), you’ll be part of a team responsible for ensuring Nielsen’s adherence to tax laws and regulations. You will ensure timely, accurate and complete filings for all US state and local indirect taxes, including sales & use tax, property tax, and business licenses. You will be the primary interface to coordinate data requests with Nielsen’s third party providers and prepare account reconciliations . You will also support day to day inquiries from BU finance/commercial teams and clients regarding taxability, exemptions and contracting.
The Nielsen Tax Team is a highly motivated and experienced team of tax professionals tasked with managing tax risk for Nielsen. The Tax Operations Team is responsible for all aspects of accounting for income taxes and financial reporting, US federal and State compliance, oversight of Non-US compliance, tax aspects of FP&A, tax transformation and technology, and tax audit and controversy. In addition, the Tax Operations Team collaborates across functions, including Treasury, Finance, Controllership and Tax to operationalize legal entity rationalization, M&A/Business Development transactions, managing liquidity and tax planning opportunities.
Responsibilities:Manage day to day indirect tax filings with 3rd party service providers (S&U, Property, Business License)Coordinate tax data gathering and cleansing for all US indirect tax filings (S&U, Property, Business License)Monthly sales & billing extracts, identifying data gaps and resolvingMonthly purchases extractsReconciliation of data to GLAnnual and periodic Fixed Asset data for personal property tax returnsAnnual and periodic other data for Business License filings and miscellaneous local returns Prepare account reconciliations in accordance with Nielsen policy, including ensuring open items are cleared promptlyReview monthly indirect tax journal entries (“JEs”) prepared by 3rd party service providers; manage JE posting with accounting teamSupport routine tax queries from Commercial, Finance and Accounting teams regarding taxability of products, billing queries, and review of exemption certificatesMaintain exemption certificate database/filingsCoordinate/execute timely state and local payments through use of external payment processor and coordination with Treasury teamForecast cash tax payments with respect to indirect tax paymentsManage day to day indirect tax audits, including maintaining indirect tax audit tracker, maintaining IDR tracker, responding to Information Document Requests (IDRs), and proactively communicate reserve requirements to ManagementCollaborate with Nielsen’s Manager, Tax Operations to drive automation and standardization of indirect tax processesMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience5-7 years of experience in tax compliance or related field in USUS indirect tax compliance experience, including audit supportExperience with indirect tax applications, preferred SAP, Vertex O

A reasonable estimate of salary range for a new employee to be offered this role would be between $50,000 - $185,00, which would be adjusted based on each employee's geographic location. The position of each employee within a compensation range at Nielsen is dependent on several individual circumstances, such as experience, training, certifications and other business requirements/needs.
