Scopely is looking for a Junior Server Engineer to join our Yahtzee! With Buddies team in Barcelona, working on a hybrid mode, 3 days from the hub.

Yahtzee with buddies is one of our casual free-to-play mobile games and is a classic board game with a new look. The team is based in Europe and the US, and works every day to create captivating new experiences for our players.

As a Junior Backend Engineering, you will contribute to the development of Yahtzee. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers across server, mobile, gaming, and data, gaining hands-on experience building large-scale products used by thousands of players around the world.

This position is designed for recently graduated or junior engineers who are passionate about building scalable systems, solving complex technical challenges, and contributing to engaging global gaming experiences.

What You Will Do

• Design and implement new features and improvements that make a positive impact on players.
• Develop clean, well-structured, and production-ready code that may be included in future software releases.
• Collaborate with engineers across disciplines to solve complex technical problems, including distributed systems and data challenges.
• Contribute to performance improvements, reliability enhancements, and scalable architecture.
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and team learning sessions.

What We’re Looking For

• Curiosity, proactivity and team player.
• Recently graduated or in an actual junior position in the software industry.
• Previous experience in software engineering is preferred.
• Strong coding, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, including algorithms and data structures.
• Familiarity with software engineering processes and tools.
• Knowledge in at least one object-oriented programming language (previous job or personal projects).

Bonus Points

• Interest in building large-scale gaming systems.
• Experience with Cloud platforms (preferably AWS)
• Experience with relational and non-relational DBs (MySQL, DynamoDB) and key-value databases, like Redis.
• Interest in games and the gaming industry.
