The Position

FanDuel is looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join our Core Tools Team in Safety & Trust which oversees internal back office tooling at FanDuel. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in defining essential services and critical applications for the business including integrations.

As a technical leader on your team, you work to deliver the right things with limited guidance and focus on complex, ambiguous problems. You will take the lead on large projects that require the work of your team and their successful launch.

• Take a technical lead role in supporting a dynamic agile delivery team which is undergoing a transition phase from writing services in Python and now pivoting to Java
• Collaborate across the wider Engineering organisation at FanDuel
• Coach and mentor team members, improving their technical knowledge and engineering practices
• Identify areas for improvement, change and simplification around challenges such as operational excellence and defining a new roadmap

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for technical leaders who take ownership of the code base and team architecture while demonstrating experience of influencing the technical direction of a team.

• You must have extensive experience in Java software development and Python would be beneficial
• Experience with cloud technologies, ideally AWS
• An understanding of core infrastructure concepts, ideally in Terraform or Cloud Formation
• Familiarity working in an Agile environment and driving operational excellence or best practice
• Experience of coaching and mentoring developers on your team

Location: Our Scottish tech hub is based in central Edinburgh and is fitted with fabulous amenities including a Gym, showers, bike parking, gaming pods, multiple breakout areas, meeting rooms, a roof terrace and much more. We operate a hybrid model for the majority of our roles, where we normally spend a day or two in the office per week.
