The Role: Lead Live Event Engineer

We are seeking a Live Event Engineer Lead to join our Support Engineering group. In this role you will lead a group of engineers supporting our camera, live data processing, and delivery systems. This involves a holistic approach to our technical systems. You will be hands on managing various systems as well as the rest of the team of engineers – from debugging camera issues to maintaining work schedules and employee supervision. This role is based in our Medellin, Colombia office.  

Specifically, you can expect to: 

  • Lead a team of on-site support engineers 
  • Support a worldwide deployment of live software systems to deliver Genius Sports products, e.g. camera, tracking, delivery 
  • Develop procedures to improve performance, documentation, coordination within the team 
  • Maintain open communication with other teams to improve coordination and reporting of commonly occurring issues 
  • Provide written and verbal briefings and calls to action in English and Spanish 
  • Scheduling, performance management, team morale 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Availability to work in office for on shift days
  • Experience with managing technical employees 
  • Affinity for teamwork and collaboration with others to solve problems 
  • Experience with providing feedback and training 
  • Strong communication skills when discussing technical concepts with technical and non-technical colleagues 
  • Self-motivation and ability to work independently in an efficient manner 
  • Flexibility and availability for work outside of traditional hours to support live sports 
  • Expertise in user-side IT and technology– can type with proficiency, configure wifi and other local networking, and debug broken systems and logins 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Strong technical background up to and including a 4-year degree in technology or engineering 
  • Expertise in debugging support issues, including reading log files and interpreting computer systems health
