Job Description

The Manager, Accounting – League Operations, manages day-to-day accounting activities in support of the Director, Accounting – League Operations, focusing on areas such as monthly close, account reconciliations, and compliance-related tasks. This role provides oversight of key accounting processes, ensures adherence to established policies, and supports internal and external reporting requirements. The Manager partners closely with cross-functional teams and Global Process Owners (GPOs) to identify process improvements and implement best practices. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Manage daily operational accounting activities for various League Operations departments and General Ledger team activities, coordinating with the Accounting Operations team to meet deadlines across the period end close cycles. 
  • Support Accounting Leads in monthly close activities, reconciliations, and compliance-related accounting tasks. 
  • Oversee accounting for specific functional areas such as intercompany, fixed assets, various league departments including but not limited to Legal, Management Council, Facilities, Internal Audit, Marketing and Corporate Strategy, ensuring adherence to policy and control requirements. 
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency gains, recommend process enhancements, and support implementation of best practices in collaboration with the Shared Services Global Process Owners. 
  • Work with technical accounting team on any complex accounting memos as needed. 
  • Collaborate closely with Operational Finance team during close process, to understand key contracts and the understand account coding process. 
  • Provide oversight to accounting staff and ensure accurate and timely completion of journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting. 
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, corporate policies, and relevant accounting standards (e.g., GAAP/IFRS). 
  • Collaborate with internal and external audit teams to support audit readiness and resolve findings. 
  • Assist in the implementation of functional policies, programs, and initiatives that improve accounting quality and efficiency. 

Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience with monthly close and reconciliation processes. 
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation, or active CPA candidacy, preferred. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. 
  • Thorough understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting standards. 
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. 
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to partner across departments and functions. 
  • Oracle Cloud ERP or similar experience a plus. 

Terms /Expected Hours of Work: 

NFL employees are required to work 40 hours per week in the office.

Salary / Pay Range 

This job posting contains a pay range, which represents the range of salaries or hourly rates that the NFL believes, in good faith, at the time of this posting that it might be willing to pay for the posted job in the location(s) specified. The NFL expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials, or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.

$95,000$125,000 USD
