Position Summary: Excel Sports Management is seeking a  sales executive to focus on the sale of marquee golf events and sponsorship opportunities for Excel’s PGA Tour and LPGA athletes. This role will be responsible for selling assets, including but not limited to sponsorship and hospitality for professional golf tournaments, presenting sponsorships for made-for-tv events and pro-am opportunities as well as endorsement deals for golf talent. This position will be based in our New York office.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Identifies qualified leads (companies and brands) to approach regarding marquee event asset(s) Excel owns and/or operates.

  • Responsible for the cultivation of revenue generating opportunities for golf based events, hospitality and golf talent 
  • Schedules and executes calls and face to face meetings with prospective sponsors;
  • Works collaboratively with the marketing solutions department to:
    • Build the narrative and storyline for corporate sales opportunities;
    • Structure impactful presentations for prospective sponsors;
    • Present, negotiate and close deals for the Events and Golf divisions;
  • Continuously networks and builds relationships with senior-level decision makers at major corporations, teams, leagues, venues, and governing bodies;
  • Builds and manages event and talent marketing and sales collateral;
  • Develops contact databases and target lists;
  • Manages flow of inbound and outbound sales-related communications on behalf of divisions;

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required;
  • Must have 5+ years of direct, relevant work experience;
  • Global sales and marketing experience required;
  • Must have a proven track record of delivering 7 figure sponsorships;
  • Experience selling events, premium sports assets (naming rights, athlete sponsorships, media).
  • Familiar with CRM systems like Salesforce.

Knowledge, Duties and Abilities:

  • Must have an established network of senior brand and property decision makers;
  • Must have the demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative environment with peers and subordinates;
  • Must have excellent presentation, written and verbal communications skills;
  • Must have the ability to demonstrate uncompromised judgement and discretion regarding interpersonal relationships;
  • Must have the ability to manage multiple projects while being responsive to the needs of the division and peers, be able to prioritize effectively and exercise flexibility as needed;
  • Must be a natural and confident salesperson with a proven ability to generate creative ideas.

 

The pay range for this position is: $95,000- $105,000 per year. This position is also eligible for benefits and discretionary bonus. 

Please note that the foregoing compensation information is a good-faith assessment associated with this position only and is provided pursuant to the New York City Salary Transparency Law.  

Ultimately, the salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, business sector, and geographic location, among other criteria.
