About the Role:  

Reporting to the Director of Product Management, the Manager of Product Design will oversee a growing team of product designers, fostering best practices, methodologies, and design processes. A crucial aspect of the role involves evaluating the technical skills of designers and providing mentorship to help them achieve their full potential. The Manager of Product Design will also play a key role in defining and promoting user experience throughout the organization and will be responsible for the AlayaCare design system.  

A day in the life:   

  • Manage and mentor a team of designers, providing guidance, feedback, and career development support. 
  • Develop and execute a design strategy that aligns with the company's goals and product roadmap. 
  • Advocate for user-centered design principles and ensure that design solutions meet the needs of our customers. 
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and other stakeholders to define design requirements, priorities, and project timelines. 
  • Improve and streamline the design process, from ideation to implementation, within an agile development environment. 
  • Maintain a high standard of design quality and consistency across all projects. 
  • Stay up to date with design tools and technologies and ensure the team is equipped with the necessary resources. 

What you bring to the team:  

  • 8+ years of experience in product design 
  • 3+ years of experience managing of team of designers 
  • College’s or Bachelor's Degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field 
  • Experience designing digital products on both mobile and web platforms ideally in a SaaS business 
  • Experience in growing and leading design teams 
  • Strong business acumen, capable of aligning design efforts with Product and business strategy 
  • Experience working on complex products with large design systems 
  • Deep empathy for users, a passion for design research, and a preference for data-driven decisions 
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
  • A continuous desire to stay updated with the product design industry, patterns, and tools
  • Healthcare experience is a plus
  • Good command of English and French as an asset 

Location, and in-office requirements: 

AlayaCare supports a flexible hybrid working model, expecting that our employees have a regular in-office presence at their closest office location while offering flexibility for some remote work. Our team encourages in-person collaboration and with this, the preferred candidate location for this position would be within the Greater Montreal Area.
