Job Description

We want you to #JOINTHEREBELLION!

For 30 years we’ve been independently developing and publishing incredible video games at our multiple studios founded by Jason & Chris Kingsley, but Rebellion is more than just games. We have our own film studio, we create board games, publish books, and through 2000AD, publish comics and graphic novels such as the amazing Judge Dredd.

During this Game Production internship you will collaborate closely with our game producers to grasp the intricacies of the entire game production process, ensuring we craft exceptional games! You will engage with production teams overseeing 150-200 team members dedicated to each game, synthesizing expertise from every department involved in game development. Join a passionate and accomplished group known for delivering top-notch gaming experiences.

As an intern, you'll learn the fundamentals of our game production process and methodology, discovering how our production teams efficiently manage a talented roster of specialists across key departments, including Design, Art, Animation and VFX, Audio Design, QA, Production, and Marketing.

This role is based at our riverside headquarters in Oxford, offering a creative and relaxed atmosphere where teamwork drives our success.

You'll explore the various stages involved in our game production process, which typically advance through the following phases:

  • Pre-production: This is the planning stage, where we solidify our game concept and draft the Game Design Document (GDD).
  • Production: The most extensive phase, where intensive game development and design occurs. This includes refining mechanics, creating assets, and conducting thorough testing.
  • Post-production: The concluding stage of game development.
  • Quality assurance: An essential phase in the game development lifecycle.
  • Launch: The exciting moment when our game is unveiled to the world.
  • Post-production maintenance: Ongoing support for the game after its launch.
  • Collaborate with diverse and supportive teams on live game projects in progress.

Requirements

  • Internships are exclusively accessible to undergraduate students from Wadham and St John's Colleges at Oxford University.
  • Availability for attendance from June 30, 2025, to August 29, 2025.
  • Exhibited enthusiasm for the gaming industry along with a keen interest in comprehending the game development process.
  • Proficiency in game production tools or software (such as JIRA, Trello, Confluence, or equivalent project management applications) would be advantageous.
  • A fundamental understanding of game development engines like Unreal Engine or Unity is desirable but not required.
  • Previous involvement in collaborative projects—whether in academic or professional settings—pertaining to game design, production, or development is considered an asset but is not mandatory.
  • All applications must be submitted by Friday, 21st February at 16:00.
