Position Summary:
The San Francisco Giants are seeking a Performance Cook to join the Baseball Operations department. This position will be a key figure in supporting the Performance Chef in optimizing the performance, development, health, and recovery of players and staff based out of the Felipe Alou Baseball Academy located in Boca Chica, Dominican Republic, by delivering top-tier food and nutrition services.
The Performance Cook will assist the Performance Chef on the day-to-day culinary operations in the performance kitchen as assigned by the Performance Chef including but not limited to menu design, food and snack preparation, stocking of beverages and snacks, receiving inventory, overseeing storage, and dishes and sanitation procedures.
They will also play a key role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, ensuring a hygienic and efficient environment for food preparation for players and staff.
Position Responsibilities:
● Support and execute the culinary vision of the Performance Nutritionist and Performance Chef, contributing to the excellence of the culinary program.
● Prepare food and beverages according to established quality and flavor standards, ensuring compliance with nutritional guidelines.
● Strictly maintain food safety and hygiene standards in food handling.
● Assist in the development and modification of recipes to optimize their nutritional content.
● Receive and inspect products to guarantee quality and freshness.
● Supervise the rotation of supplies using the FIFO (First In, First Out) method to minimize waste.
● Ensure all workstations and kitchen equipment remain clean and organized.
● Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, pots, and kitchen equipment, ensuring their availability for the culinary team.
● Operate and maintain dishwashing and kitchen equipment in good condition.
● Properly apply hygiene, food safety, and waste disposal protocols.
● Report any incidents related to the maintenance or operation of work areas.
● Maintain a professional and collaborative attitude within the kitchen team.
● Other duties as assigned by the Performance Chef.
Skills and Qualifications:
● Minimum of 1 year of experience in cooking or kitchen cleaning roles in industrial kitchens.
● Culinary training or equivalent experience in a professional kitchen.
● Knowledge of basic culinary techniques and safe food handling practices.
● Familiarity with food safety regulations and temperature control.
● Ability to maintain the work area in optimal cleanliness and organization.
● Proactive attitude, responsibility, and ability to work as a team.
● Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing for long periods and lifting up to 25+ pounds.
● Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
