About This Role

The Athletic is looking for a driven, enthusiastic individual with a deep knowledge of football to join our award-winning podcast network. This role will assist in the production of some of The Athletic’s sports podcasts and work closely with management, newsroom and the audio team to help deliver our audio product. 

This role will be hybrid for candidates permanently residing in the United Kingdom.

Responsibilities
  • Plan podcast episodes from idea stage to briefing presenters and recording, editing, publishing and promoting.
  • Working across all aspects of the pre- and post-production process of shows, network trails and commercials.
  • Working closely with senior editorial staff, both from the audio team and the wider newsdesk.
  • Booking and preparing on-air talent, both internally and externally.
  • Work closely with social media teams on content distribution.
  • Perform data analysis tasks as needed and presenting these findings to the audio team in group meetings.
  • Some travel may be necessary.

  • Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in radio, podcasting or audio feature making.
  • Ability to work independently and to regular tight deadlines.
  • Experience in editing packages or documentary audio.
  • Ability to use audio editing software (ideally, Audition) and ability to edit smoothly and accurately at pace.
  • Ability to script and edit individual audio features and full episodes.
  • Ability to operate a mixing desk and live produce in a studio environment.
  • Enthusiastic individual with a deep knowledge of football and experience of breaking sports news

  • The total compensation offered for this position may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, and location. It may also include non-cash rewards and benefits. The base salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
