We are excited to hire a Seasonal Sports Turf & Grounds Technician! This position will assist the Sports Turf & Grounds Department with the maintenance of the landscape, grounds, and athletic fields at Broncos Park Powered by CommonSpirit and assist the Empower Field at Mile High Turf Department with in-season maintenance and preparation of stadium field and landscape.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist with landscape maintenance operations at Broncos Park Powered by CommonSpirit by:
• Execute daily maintenance plans around the property including but not limited to fine turf areas, native grass areas, planting beds, trees, and shrubs.
• Perform cultural practices including mowing, trimming, pruning, edging, fertilizer and pesticide applications, aerification, seeding, monitoring irrigation and performing repairs, etc.
• Assist in the maintenance of all equipment, materials, and supplies required for landscape maintenance operations.
• Communicate with Turf staff landscape needs and maintenance requirements.
• Support snow removal operations on property.
• Assist in maintenance of snow removal equipment, supplies, and materials.
• Perform regular maintenance of drainage areas, including retention ponds and sediment basins.
• Work with department staff executing projects on property.
• Maintain property in safe, functional, and presentable manner for all users and visitors.
• Assist with turf maintenance and game preparation at Empower Field at Mile High by:
• Assist in turf maintenance and other tasks including, but not limited to, field renovation, painting field and logos, tarp placement, grow light deployment, and snow removal.
• Operate utility vehicles, tractors, mowers, string trimmers, hand tools, and other equipment.
• Assist with the care of the surrounding landscape as needed.
• Work flexible/extended hours as needed to accommodate work requirements including weekends/holidays.
• Keep office and maintenance areas in neat and orderly condition.
• Work around the public in a safe and courteous manner.
• Establish and maintain effective work relationships with other employees and other departments around the stadium.
• Communicate effectively one-on-one and in small group settings.
• Relay essential information to the Turf management team in person or over the phone.
• Assist with set up and strike of playing field for NFL games and special events.
• Work around NFL players and staff in a safe and courteous manner.
• Contribute to team effort by performing other duties as assigned.
• Assist with maintenance and upkeep of athletic fields at Broncos Park Powered by CommonSpirit by:
• Perform cultural practices including mowing, irrigation troubleshooting and repair, fertility and pesticide applications, seasonal renovations, over-seeding, etc.
• Operate turf maintenance equipment including utility vehicles, tractors, mowers, aerators, string trimmers, blowers, paint machines, hand tools, etc.
• Assist painting athletic field surfaces as needed.
• Execute field setup and strike for team practices and/or special events.

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• 1+ year experience in landscape, sports field, or golf course maintenance.
• Ability to work independently and in team environment.
• Ability to utilize and operate smart phone.
• Required to work all Denver Broncos home football games and public events as assigned.

Preferred Skills & Ability:

• 2+ years or more experience in landscape, sports field, or golf course maintenance
• Ability to lead game day staff.
• Excellent work ethic and professionalism.
• Work well independently and in team environment.
• Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the expected hourly rate will be $20.25. This position will work 40 hours a week with overtime needed during busy times.

This temporary position will be located at the Training Center in Englewood, CO and at Empower Field at Mile High for the 2024 football season. This role must be available for a flexible schedule and to work all Broncos games and nights/weekend as needed.
