THE POSITION

FanDuel is seeking a Senior Tax Manager who will join our growing Tax team.  In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the FanDuel US and TSG US groups.  The Senior Tax Manager will support tax compliance, tax provisioning, transfer pricing, research, and tax planning for direct and indirect taxes.  You will have the opportunity to build and refine complex tax workpapers and financial models, and assist with the building, implementation, and maintenance of automation within the function (e.g., Alteryx, RPA, etc.). The Senior Tax Manager will also assist the tax senior leadership team with managing the junior members of the Tax team. This role will also require the Senior Tax Manager to work closely with business functions throughout the company as well as regularly partnering with the International Tax team at Flutter Entertainment.

This role represents an exciting opportunity to help shape the tax positions and processes across both US operating groups and the online gaming industry at large in a fast-paced and rapidly growing marketplace.

THE GAME PLAN
Everyone on our team has a part to play

  • Review quarterly and annual income tax provisions, including footnote disclosures, prepared by members of the Tax team
  • Oversee direct and indirect tax compliance workpapers and filings, including Federal and State income tax, property tax, sales and use tax, and GST/HST
  • Play a key role in the annual audit and quarterly reviews with external auditors
  • Build and refine SOX internal controls related to the income tax provision process
  • Own and document all relevant tax processes and controls, in collaboration with the Tax and Risk Management teams
  • Support the Internal Audit team’s review of the income tax provision
  • Lead, identify, and implement process improvements across the entire Traditional Tax function
  • Support the Flutter Tax and FP&A teams with tax forecasting and planning matters for use in budgeting, strategy, and cash flow planning
  • Review tax reconciliations and journal entries as part of the monthly accounting close process, including transfer pricing entries
  • Assist with operational transfer pricing needs to ensure intercompany recharges are computed efficiently, accurately, and timely
  • Assist with the calculation of federal and state R&D tax credits
  • Manage relationships with internal business functions, external strategic partners, and tax and legal advisors
  • Oversee key elements of audit defense and tax controversy work streams across all tax types
  • Drive the expansion of automation throughout the Tax function
  • Develop and refine multifaceted tax workpapers, financial models, and tax automation with the assistance of the Tax Operations team
  • Liaise with international, federal, state, and local taxing authorities and regulatory bodies.
  • Manage a variety of ancillary tax processes, such as sales taxes, business property taxes, local business tax filings, and vendor contract reviews
  • Implement tax planning initiatives across all lines of business within US operating groups
  • Monitor and analyze proposed and newly enacted tax legislation, regulations, rulings, and court cases to determine the impact on the company

THE STATS
What we're looking for in our next teammate

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or another similar business field
  • 8-11 years of professional US corporate tax experience (preferably a combination of public accounting firm and private company experience)

Preferred Qualifications and Industry Experience:

  • Licensed Qualifications:
  • CPA certification, Enrolled Agent certification, or J.D. is required
  • Experience in the following industries:
  • Technology, gaming, sports, and/or media
  • Highly regulated environments (e.g., banking, telecom, infrastructure, etc.)

Preferred Knowledge/Skills:

  • Demonstrates intimate knowledge and/or a proven record of success in the following areas:
  • Tax provisioning and accounting for income taxes
  • Tax provisioning software (e.g., OneSource Tax Provision) and/or analytic tools (e.g., Alteryx)
  • Corporate and Partnership US federal and state income tax compliance
  • Transfer Pricing and foreign tax matters
  • Demonstrates abilities and/or a proven record of success, as both an individual contributor and team member, in the following areas:
  • Being a self-starter with the ability to bring strong analytical rigor to decision-making with a focus on getting the right answer
  • Streamlining cross-departmental ways of working and collaboration in pursuit of common company goals
  • Strong Excel skills with a desire to continually maintain and improve those skills
  • Openness to learning about new areas of tax and financial reporting (via internal trainings and continuing professional education courses)   
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and comfort with presenting to senior tax and non-tax business stakeholders

The applicable salary range for this position is $142,000 - $214,000, which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs and market demand. This role may offer the following benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) matching program; among other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses and stock program participation. This role includes paid personal time off and 14 paid company holidays. FanDuel offers paid sick time in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.
