Spotlight Sports Group is a global media and technology company specialising in sports betting content and data. With more than 450 staff, the business operates multiple award-winning brands, including Racing Post, the world’s largest horse racing affiliate, Pickswise, the #1 post-PASPA affiliate in the US, myracing and Free Super Tips. Our other businesses in the group are ICS-digital and ICS-translate. Our global B2B division provides sports betting and fantasy sports content, including in-play, through the EGR award-winning Superfeed product.

We are looking for an experienced SEO Content Manager to help grow organic search traffic across our group by devising and overseeing the execution of our SEO strategy. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with leading sports betting affiliates in both the UK and US, with a particular focus on our flagship brand, Racing Post. The role includes managing two direct reports, soon to be three. The position is based at our Southbank, London HQ, with in-office work required twice a week.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the Content SEO strategy across the group to drive an increase in organic traffic and revenue.
  • Lead the optimisation of various content channels, including Google News, Evergreen Content, Transactional Content, and AV, to improve site visibility and increase traffic share.
  • Conduct keyword research and competitor analysis to identify quick wins and long-term opportunities for audience growth.
  • Analyse SERP visibility using relevant tools and scraping techniques to identify opportunities for audience growth.
  • Monitor and report on the group’s traffic performance against relevant KPIs, providing actionable insights and strategic recommendations to relevant departments.
  • Foster key relationships between product, editorial, and marketing teams to ensure efficient and collaborative working environments.
  • Enhance SEO awareness within the business through regular communication, knowledge sharing, and training workshops, particularly with content-focused teams such as Editorial and Content Marketing.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, event-led environment and meet agreed deadlines.
  • Collaborate with the Data team to better understand the value of our content and audiences, using traffic and conversion data to make informed decisions.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor up to three SEO executives, identifying training needs, supporting personal development, and planning team succession.

Requirements

    • Previous management experience in an SEO role.
    • Up-to-date with the latest SEO trends and best practices.
    • Proven track record of effectively managing KPIs and ROI, with the ability to analyse results and explain variances from targets.
    • Excellent project management skills.
    • Proficiency in Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and Excel.
    • Familiarity with SEO tools such as SEMRush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, Botify, and Majestic.
    • Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills in both vertical and matrix organisational structures.
    • Knowledge of various sports is an advantage.

Please note that the actual salary for this position may vary, as it is dependent on various factors including but not limited to experience, location, and market dynamics.
