Role overview:

We have an exciting opportunity to join Sony Interactive Entertainment, PlayStation. We seek an enthusiastic Software Engineer in Test to work within the Partner Platform which is part of Content and Customer Services Engineering. The Partner Platform applications are utilized worldwide by content producers to interact and supply their content onto the PlayStation platform, including games, movies, music and more.

You will be joining one of our Liverpool based Engineering Teams as a Software Engineer in Test. You will work alongside other teams based in multiple geographic regions and time zones, using a diverse technology stack within a cloud (AWS) environment.

We have an ongoing commitment to nurture and develop your talent. You will have access to comprehensive training materials, including a focused training period when you start with us and following that you will have protected time each month to further your learning.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Working in an Agile engineering team testing best in class enterprise applications that are critical to the core of PlayStation’s business.
  • Take ownership of and support the applications that your team deliver
  • Put Quality first and constantly look for ways to improve it
  • Collaborating with developers and product owners:
    • Contributing to planning and design.
    • Code reviews
  • Execute test cases, validate bug fixes, and sprint tickets, report test results, and be an advocate for quality in every phase of the development process.
  • Develop and Improve test automation frameworks.
  • Knowing and using design patterns where appropriate.
  • Setting up the infrastructure to run tests working with our DevOps support.
  • Setting up dashboards for reporting test results in real time.
  • Teaching others good quality and testing practices.
  • Testing non-functional requirements including performance, security, and accessibility.

What we’re looking for:

  • Have around 3-5 years professional experience as a Software Engineer in Test
  • Automation first mindset
  • Be methodical, analytical and have a streak of creativity that you bring to everything you do

  • Have professional experience in some of the following or similar tools and technologies:
  • Cloud technologies (e.g. AWS, Azure)
  • Test Automation Tools (e.g. Selenium, Playwright, WebdriverIO, Jest, Puppeteer, Cucumber, Cypress)
  • Test Management Tools (e.g. ALM, qTest)
  • Modern JavaScript (e.g. ES6, Typescript, React.js, Node.js)
  • Database Technologies (e.g. MySQL, Oracle, Postgres, Dynamo)
  • Using CI/CD tools like Jenkins or similar while having a good understanding of release pipelines and jobs and familiarity with containerisation platforms like Docker.
  • Git, Jira, and Confluence
  • Unix/Linux
