Job Overview

We are seeking a talented Sound Designer to join the Steel Hunters video production team. In this role, you will be responsible for crafting and enhancing the audio experience across a variety of content, including gameplay videos, cinematic sequences, animated features, and marketing materials. Additional responsibilities include on-set sound recording during video shoots. Proficiency in music composition is a strong plus and will be considered an advantage.

Reports to

This role reports to the Senior Gameplay Editor

What will you do?

  • Sound Design and SFX Creation. Collaborate with the video production team to enhance the emotional impact and immersion of videos through sound. 
  • Audio Mixing and Mastering. Mix and master audio tracks for videos, ensuring clarity, consistency, and balance between dialogue, music, and effects. 
  • On-Set Sound Recording. Record high-quality audio during video shoots, including dialogue, ambient sound, and any necessary effects. 
  • Collaboration and Feedback.  
    - Work closely with video editors, directors, and animators to ensure the audio aligns with the visual storytelling. 
    - Participate in creative discussions to understand the tone, pacing, and overall vision of each project. 

What are we looking for?

  • Portfolio/Demo Reel 
  • Experience in Sound Creation for games, films, advertisements, and other media. 
  • Skills in Mixing and Mastering 
  • Proficiency in DAWs (Reaper, Pro Tools) 
  • Understanding of Audio Signal Processing, including mixing, compression, filters, reverb, etc. 
  • Organizational Skills and Documentation Management 

What additional skills will help you stand out?

  • Avid gamer. 
  • Previous experience in the gaming industry. 
  • Experience in music composition, supported by formal musical education, a strong sense of pitch, and artistic taste. 
  • Self-management and proactivity  

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in previous sound design roles
  • Must be a proactive and self-driven creative problem solver. 
  • Excellent communication skills. 
  • Experience in finding solutions from audio, production, and technical perspectives. 
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team. 

Work mode

Hybrid with a minimum of 3 days from the Guildford studio
