About the Role
The Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) Product Team at Commure + Athelas powers the core operating system for our practices. Our product—Insights—provides practice staff and administrators with everything they need to efficiently manage their practice’s operations. We maintain 150+ customer-facing features, ranging from high-level reports and visualizations to workflow automation tools to help the staff boost their practice’s revenue.
As a Staff Software Engineer, you will play a key role in scaling and maintaining our website’s infrastructure, ensuring a seamless user experience as we grow to support thousands of practices nationwide.
Beyond development, this role will help define the technical direction of Insights’ architecture, shaping how and where services are built and deployed. You’ll help foster a culture of continuous improvement, enhancing the reliability, scalability, and performance of our web applications while elevating the technical skills of the entire engineering organization.
What You’ll Do
Drive the technical direction of our practice management platform, Insights, ensuring it scales to support thousands of practices and millions of users
Design, build, and maintain scalable full-stack solutions using ReactJS, Python, and PostgreSQL
Improve system reliability and observability by implementing best practices in monitoring, logging, and alerting
Optimize the performance and scalability of our web applications, ensuring seamless user experiences as we rapidly expand
Collaborate with infrastructure and backend teams to ensure high availability and resilience of core functions
Mentor and guide engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning
Lead and deliver high-impact projects, balancing speed and quality in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment
Conduct in-depth code reviews, uphold best practices, and drive architectural improvements across the stack
Work closely with product and design teams to build intuitive, user-friendly experiences for healthcare providers and staff
What You Have
8+ years of professional software development experience, with a focus on building scalable full-stack applications
Proficiency in full-stack development with expertise in JavaScript (React/Vue), Python, and PostgreSQL
Strong architectural skills with experience designing and maintaining highly scalable, reliable, and performant web applications
Experience leading multi-month, high-impact projects, balancing trade-offs, and delivering results in a fast-paced environment
Deep understanding of modern front-end engineering—React fundamentals, performance optimization, state management, and component-driven design
Experience working with complex backend systems, including designing APIs and optimizing database performance
Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, with a focus on observability (monitoring, logging, and alerting best practices)
Ability to mentor engineers and drive technical excellence across the organization
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively present technical concepts to leadership and cross-functional teams
Experience scaling front-end applications in a fast-growing, high-traffic environment
Deep understanding of frontend performance optimizations and ability to diagnose bottlenecks in React applications
Strong product intuition with a track record of influencing UX/UI decisions to improve usability
Background in data visualization and building interactive dashboards for analytics-heavy applications
Experience with developer tooling and CI/CD pipelines for frontend applications
Familiarity with modern API design patterns (GraphQL, REST, gRPC) and best practices in backend-for-frontend (BFF) architectures
Contributions to open-source projects or a strong engineering blog presence
Experience working in highly regulated industries (finance, insurance, government) with a focus on security and compliance
A passion for improving healthcare and healthcare operations in America
