About the Position

WNBA x Golden State is looking for a Vice President, Marketing to play a critical role in growing the value of our brands and ensuring the organization is working efficiently to deliver exceptional content and experiences. In this role, you will lead a team responsible for creating and implementing marketing strategies to enhance brand awareness, increase fan engagement and drive business growth. This role requires a strong blend of strategic thinking, creative vision and operational expertise to effectively align marketing initiatives with our cross-functional partners. This position reports to the Senior Vice President, Marketing & Communications.

This is a full-time position based onsite in Oakland, CA with time spent in San Francisco for game days.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the marketing strategy and vision aligned with organization's goals
  • Deliver integrated brand campaigns across various marketing channels, ensuring consistent messaging and brand positioning
  • Oversee the Social Media team to define and execute social media strategy
  • Develop and manage WNBA x Golden State merchandise strategy alongside SVP, Marketing & Communications
  • Lead the content team and manage relationships with agencies and vendors to develop compelling marketing materials, including ads, digital content, and promotional material
  • Collaborate with Public Relations, Corporate Partnerships, Tickets, Community Relations, Events and Arena, to align marketing initiatives
  • Support existing corporate partners and generate future sales by adding value to existing partners
  • Manage development and maintenance of brand identity; own brand utilization and communication across the organization
  • Develop and refine the brand’s messaging and position that is channel and audience optimized; establish and enforce brand guidelines and standards to maintain brand integrity
  • Monitor campaign performance and analytics; provide insights and recommendations for optimization
  • Manage marketing budgets, allocate resources effectively and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
  • Build and lead an impactful team, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities; set clear goals and expectations for the team and establish metrics to measure performance and track progress
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business Administration or Marketing, or equivalent experience
  • 10 years of marketing, storytelling, project management, and leadership experience in sports, entertainment, or other high-profile industry/company; agency experience preferred
  • 5+ years of supervisory management experience leading diverse teams of creative personnel and content creators to achieve defined goals
  • Experience managing multi-million-dollar marketing budgets
  • Experience leading both long-form and real-time (immediate) content creation and distribution strategies and tactics
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively, turning engagement behavior data into effective and innovative strategies and results
  • Knowledge of current and emerging marketing trends; ability to influence conversation based on knowledge and expertise
  • Deep understanding of the game of basketball and the team including game day events, statistics and other updates
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with clients and peers at all levels within the organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, service, resolution and presentation skills
  • Ability to balance multiple projects at once in a fast-paced work environment

Compensation

  • $131,000 - 139,000 + Bonus
