MAJOR PURPOSE

Responsible for assisting with confidential and highly sensitive investigations related to players, umpires, and baseball personnel as directed.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with investigations into allegations related to performance-enhancing substances, domestic violence, sexual assault, gambling, off-field misconduct, and other violations of baseball rules and policies
• Draft detailed investigative reports, interview summaries, and referrals related to significant investigations
• Assist Clubs with certain internal investigations as directed
• Assist with MLB compliance initiatives in the Dominican Republic as directed
• Work with MLB analysts in New York to gather and analyze publicly available information, including government records, social media, and news reports
• Review and analyze English and Spanish language documents, text messages, emails, and legal filings
• Translate information from Spanish to English
• Monitor and develop alerts for relevant court filings and social media updates
• Secure and preserve data and publicly available information
• Maintain database records and logs of investigative activities
• Prepare and assist investigators for witness interviews
• Liaise with Dominican law enforcement entities on ongoing investigations
• Maintain working relationships with law enforcement and anti-doping organizations in the Dominican Republic
• Work closely with MLB Dominican Office initiatives
• Assist MLB’s Security Department on initiatives in the Dominican Republic as directed
• Assist MLB’s Age and Identity Department with problematic cases in the Dominican Republic as directed
• Work closely with MLB’s Education Department on proactive initiatives
• Perform related duties as required

REQUIREMENTS

• Fluency in English (oral and written) required
• Bachelors at Law (LL.B.) and a minimum of 2 years’ legal experience required
• Strong writing skills required
• Prosecutorial or investigations background strongly preferred
• Professional demeanor, organized, and detail-oriented
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and impartial bias with regards to ongoing investigations
• Ability to manage deliverables with time-sensitive deadlines
• This position is based in Dominican Republic and will involve travel throughout the country
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
