Position: Baseball Hitting Coach, DSL           
Department: Baseball Operations, Player Development
Location: Boca Chica, Dominican Republic
 
 Position Summary:
The San Francisco Giants are seeking a Hitting Coach for our Dominican Summer League Academy. This is a unique opportunity for a uniformed coach to support the implementation of player development and hitting department initiatives, while also fulfilling the responsibilities that come with being the designated hitting coach 2for one of our two teams in the Dominican Summer League. The ideal candidate will not only assist with player development but will also mentor, model, and teach the core principles of the Giants organization. This role will offer the chance to develop and contribute to the overall growth of players on and off the field.
 
Key Responsibilities:
·         Implement and oversee the Giants’ organizational offensive strategies in the DSL.
·         Mentor and model the Giants’ principles in both on-field and off-field settings, teaching players how to embody these values during their development.
·         Work closely with coordinators, managers, and other departments to set and track offensive player goals.
·         Assist position players/hitters in their game preparation, including early work routines and post-game review sessions.
·         Support the field staff with conventional hitting coach duties such as practice planning, drill implementation, throwing batting practice, game planning, etc. 
·         Facilitate the integration and use of technology, systems, and practice tools to enhance player development.
·         Assist in the creation of advanced scouting reports, offensive player plans, and other critical in-game information for coaching staff.
·         Utilize office tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Drive) to maintain accurate records, reports, and other assigned tasks related to player development and the academy's overall operations.
 
Skills and Qualifications:
·         Coaching experience, preferably in baseball development or professional coaching.
·         Ability to mentor, model, and teach the core principles of the Giants organization.
·         Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with coaches, players, and staff.
·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), Google Drive, and Canva.
·         Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks effectively.
·         Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
·         Ability to adapt to new tools, technologies, and approaches in the game of baseball.
·         Professional or collegiate playing experience is a plus.
  
Work Environment:
·         This position operates both on the field and in an office setting.
·         The role involves being outdoors in hot conditions and standing for extended periods. The environment can also be noisy at times.
 
Physical Demands:
·         This role requires spending long periods in either indoor or outdoor environments.
·         Physical tasks such as bending, throwing, and swinging a bat are common.
·         Lifting and carrying up to and over 25 pounds may be necessary.
·         The individual must have the visual acuity to perform all tasks of hitting development, such as distinguishing different pitch types and facilitating effective instruction.
