Director, Commercial and Client Solutions - Nielsen Sports

 Imagine working closely with many of the world’s largest sports rights holders, brands, agencies and broadcasters worldwide to help them better understand their fans and how they are consuming content across a multitude of devices and screens. Nielsen Sports and Entertainment is a trusted adviser and partner in sports and entertainment intelligence, helping our clients worldwide to maximize their commercial success.  With our expansive suite of products and services, Nielsen Sports is uniquely positioned to provide insights and intelligence which help drive more effective decision making for clients. To continue our strong growth, Nielsen Sports is seeking a talented sales and client services professional for the position of Director, Commercial and Client Solutions for the North American market.  This person will manage a portfolio of rights holder clients and support New Business efforts. This person will be responsible for creating, developing, and selling integrated research & consulting solutions to rights holders in the North American sports landscape. Reporting to the Group VP, Rights Holders, this person will be responsible for managing several clients including project oversight, providing valuable data and insights and client renewal / upsell


Responsibilities:
  • Deliver on a personal revenue target in line with Nielsen Sports operating plan.
  • Work collaboratively across the Nielsen commercial team to sell and deliver consultative solutions to clients.
  • Manage conversations from opportunity identification to conclusion including presentation and proposal generation, contract creation and editing, and oversee briefing of our Client Service function. 
  • Manage pipeline of prospective clients and provide regular updates on communications and status on all efforts made to generate new business.
  • Work independently, with an entrepreneurial and growth mindset.
  • Serve as overall owner of a Nielsen Sports client portfolio, maintaining and evolving relationships with clients.
  • Overall responsibility for the quarterly and annual renewal and upsell targets within your portfolio.
  • Overall accountability for ensuring clients receive first class service and all issues are resolved efficiently and effectively.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the client and their needs and develop a robust client engagement plan taking proactive measures to improve relationship.
  • Oversee the management of internal processes for project setup and participate in project briefing meetings with relevant stakeholders.
  • Support and review the production of client reports and presentations by providing insight and advising on strategy with a focus on the goal of the end user.  Lead key presentations of findings to clients via conference calls or in-person for assigned clients and support delivery of others.
  • Work collaboratively with internal subject matter experts such as Market Research, Account Services and Analytics.

  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience within the sports marketing, media or research industry.Proven track record with measurable revenue results.
  • Knowledge of and interest in the US sports, media and entertainment business and sponsorship landscape.
  • Ability to present primary research capabilities confidently and understand both quantitative and qualitative research methods and appropriate use in market.
  • Exposure to Nielsen Sports products and services preferred but not mandatory.
  • A results and outcome-focused attitude with the ability to be self-sufficient.
  • A collaborative and consultative mindset with the ability to work with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office suite; Excel and PowerPoint experience required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel on short notice to client meetings as necessary.
  • Must be creative, well-organized, possess a strong work ethic, desire to excel and willingness to learn and earn your results.
  • Strong analytical thinker.
  • Customer-centric work experience with ability to establish and maintain customer relationships.
  • Intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, problem-solving and attention to detail.
  • Self-starter with excellent initiative and communication skills.

    A reasonable estimate of salary range for a new employee to be offered this role would be between $66,000-$225,000 which would be adjusted based on each employee's geographic location.  The position of each employee within a compensation range at Nielsen is dependent on several individual circumstances, such as experience, training, certifications and other business requirements/needs
