The Director of Growth Marketing is a cutting-edge, data-driven leader that will own the acquisition strategy and execution for Outside+ subscribers on our Read (editorial) platforms. In this role you will build breakthrough campaigns to captivate audiences and propel subscriber growth across paid and owned media channels.
Reporting to the VP of Growth Marketing, you will manage paid and email marketing, refine target customer segmentation, develop effective & engaging creative, analyze performance, and continuously optimize editorial campaigns end-to-end based on rigorous testing. This role requires intense collaboration with product, engineering, business intelligence, editorial and finance teams to balance subscriber growth and fiscal discipline. Media Industry is a must.
Within 1 month, you will:
- Spearhead cross-functional partnerships with senior leaders in Product, Marketing, Business Intelligence, Editorial and other departments to ensure alignment of the growth lifecycle and steer high-level growth strategies
- Collaborate closely with the Product leadership to identify and prioritize enhancements, building subscription-oriented features and experiences that drive subscriber growth
- Become a customer champion - research pain points, identify growth opportunities, propose solutions
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in growth marketing, incorporating innovative approaches into the company's growth strategy
Within 6 months, you will:
- Implement and oversee rigorous A/B testing methodologies on creative, channels, and campaigns to maximize ROI and scale successful initiatives
- Direct the rapid iteration of landing pages, in-app experiences, and push messaging strategies to boost conversion rates and customer engagement
- Collaborate closely with the Product leadership to identify and prioritize enhancements, building subscription-oriented features and experiences that drive subscriber growth
- Develop growth marketing campaigns across email, paid search & social, and through strategic partnerships to drive subscriber acquisition
- Present growth strategies, results, and forecasts to senior leaders
- Partner with Business Intelligence leadership to develop comprehensive dashboards offering full visibility into campaign results, funnel metrics, and subscriber trends, informing high-level decision making
Within 12 months, you will:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive, multi-year strategic plan for subscriber acquisition, retention, and revenue growth across clearly defined audience segments and channels, aligning with and contributing to overall company goals
- In partnership with CRM, evolve the strategy for improving our email acquisition channels through audience segmentation, improved messaging, and optimization
- Manage paid media including budgets and forecasting, while maintaining positive return on ad spend. Support paid media initiatives for other areas of the business as needed
- Create and nurture a department-wide culture focused on testing, analytics, creativity, and customer affinity, influencing teams across Product, Marketing, Business Intelligence, and Engineering
What YOU bring to Outside: (Preferred Qualifications)
- 10+ years experience of growth marketing experience with a focus in email marketing, paid media and conversion optimization. Media industry experience preferred.
- Proven experience in creating and executing successful growth marketing strategies
- Exceptional analytical skills with experience using data to drive decision making
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business or a related field
- Experience using Piano including Composer and VX
What We Offer:
Entirely remote jobs that could be performed in Colorado: Employees can expect to be paid a salary of between $130,000 to $170,000. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission . Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, Flexible Time Away, sick leave, and more.
