Overview /Objective

The employee will support and enhance the various data systems used by the Management Council and NFL Clubs and will work with staff from the Management Council, Information Technology, and other departments to develop new systems and reporting mechanisms. The employee will also assist with daily Player Personnel and Salary Cap tasks and analytical reporting.

Responsibilities

The position works directly with the Manager of Labor Information and Manager of Management Council to assist departmental staff as follows: 

  • Improve efficiency in operations by conducting systems analysis, recommending changes in procedures and workflow and thoughtfully demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments, and clear code. 
    • Maintain and enhance processes such as Daily Reconciliation, Compensatory Draft System, and Year-End Reconciliation to ensure data accuracy, ease of reporting, and streamline efficiencies. 
    • Manage and refresh department websites such as the Football Information System (FIS), Football Administration, College Relations, Other Leagues, myNFLinfo, etc. 
    • Incorporate new fields of Management Council data into the FIS database, build internal system applications upon the existing platform. 
    • Enhance and update Management Council’s historical information repository, including historical player information, compliance information, and document management.
  • Work with the League’s Club Service Committee to help identify and implement club technological needs; work closely with IT to create new analytical tools for benefit of clubs; assist in testing, roll-out and monitoring phases. 
  • Support player personnel with player and non-player personnel information: personal, transactional, and contractual. Assist in the preparation and dissemination of the Player Personnel Notice. Maintain trade records. Research college eligibility and maintain Draft-related data and reports. Monitor all information for data integrity. Develop and maintain reports for use of senior league and department staff and for use in competition committee and general manager advisory committee matters. 
  • Support labor operations in reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating player contracts for compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, including Salary Cap accounting rules and daily and year-end salary cap reconciliation. 
  • Support labor negotiations by distilling and refining various data analyses into clear, concise strategic priorities that can be used during bargaining preparation and negotiating sessions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited four-year College or University. 
  • Prior experience with, and working knowledge of, the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement and Salary Cap system, the NFL Constitution and Bylaws, and the Player Personnel Handbook. 
  • Proficient with data management, analysis, and visualization in various statistical software (Excel, SQL, Access). 
  • Ability to imagine and analyze complex problems and have the technical ability to solve them.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years related training

  • NFL employees are required to work 40 hours per week.

Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.

$70,000$85,000 USD
