The Role:
This role is a pivotal role and will have a major role to play in driving the future growth of Gametime.  We have a unique opportunity to capitalize on a rapidly growing market share position and accelerate it by scaling our web focused marketing strategy.  Gametime was born out of a mobile app first philosophy and that means we now have the potential to accelerate growth by leveraging the huge reach of the web based audience and turning it into a high performing customer acquisition engine.  We are introducing this new leadership role to build that strategy, partnering closely with teams across Gametime - notably product, supply and data science - to design a program that successfully reaches the breadth of customers across the live events industry. In addition, we are just getting started with building a strong organic foundation and we are looking for a proven leader to come in and help us design the capability from the ground up.  This role will require a rare combination of technical, analytical and customer-centric prowess, equally adept at designing solutions such as dynamic bidding approaches integrating data science models that handle the dynamic nature of live events, partnering with our engineering team on technical approach to SEO and to considering the role of branded content in our customer communication.  Day to day, you will be responsible for direct channels such as SEM, affiliate marketing, SEO and CRM, as well as exploring new capabilities around event catalog management and landing page approach.  You will also represent efforts to scale these web and organic opportunities in leadership team discussions.  

Given the size of the opportunity ahead, this is one of the most critical and strategic roles we are bringing into Gametime.

What you'll do:
  • Evaluate and build a strategy balancing paid and organic capabilities to accelerate growth of direct and web focused channels
  • Provide team leadership, strategy, planning and execution to direct marketing teams including SEM, SEO, affiliates and CRM
  • Develop existing team members and add new talent as needed to build an ambitious, hungry and agile team of drivers that powers past larger competitors in the industry
  • Develop a clear and actionable that roadmap that successfully starts addressing the significant opportunity ahead in search channels, building best in class account quality in paid search to unlock new efficiencies and build a strong foundation for SEO
  • Leverage strong partnerships with external stakeholders such as Google to ensure we are participating in and contributing to new product innovation
  • Partner with data science to design an industry leading bidding capability that solves for the highly dynamic nature of live events
  • Develop a strategy that bridges customer and supplier needs; partnering with product and supply to drive speed to market around the launch of high interest events, leveraging technology whenever possible to scale, and building excitement and interest around unsold existing inventory
  • Build a strong working relationship with our conversion product teams to assess broader requirements to unlock further growth in customer acquisition
  • Support the CRM team in identifying opportunities in the end to end customer lifecycle with Gametime, balancing algorithmic driven event recommendations with branded content inspiration, and partnering closely with Fan Happiness to ensure our customer communication establishes strong fan trust and clear expectations
  • Build a world class experimentation strategy to build a strong understanding of true marketing effectiveness and incrementality 
  • Explore new growth opportunities in areas such as customer loyalty, event merchandising and content strategy to build further fan acquisition and advocacy

  • Our ideal candidate has:
  • 10+ years experience in highly analytical, technical and customer-centric marketing roles, focused on DTC businesses
  • Strong background in search marketing - both paid and organic - with demonstrated impact in driving scale 
  • Experience with the application of technology to enable scale and automation and drive greater accuracy and responsiveness in marketing optimization
  • An ability to pair customer-centric brand thinking with strong quantitative problem-solving to build customer life-cycle management at scale 
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally in leadership roles to align growth strategies across multiple functions, with an understanding in particular of how to partner with conversion focused product teams
  • A highly quantitative and technical approach to managing large data sets and driving application to scale marketing activities 
  • A solid understanding of marketing tracking and analytics solutions
  • A strong understanding of customer lifecycle management and the impact marketing can have at driving user adoption 
  • Demonstrated experience building rigorous experimentation strategies to assess overall effectiveness and incrementality 
  • Excellent critical thinking skills
  • Executive level communication skills, written and verbal
