THE ROLE

We are looking for a Senior Director, Supplier Quality Assurance to join our growing Quality Team. This critical role is paramount to AG1's success by leading a transformation and executing a supplier quality assurance strategy in collaboration with the Supply Chain, Product Development, and co-manufacture sites. Reporting to the Vice President of Quality, you will lead a team of professionals in developing processes, implementing robust compliance strategies, and establishing product safety compliance frameworks, to ensure AG1’s ingredients and packaging material suppliers comply with our quality requirements and all applicable regulations, in addition to developing programs for continuous improvement and prevention of non-conformances. You will be responsible for strategic planning, risk assessment, policy development, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive a culture of quality, product safety and compliance. 

This is a highly visible role that will have internal and external key stakeholders. The ideal candidate for this role must possess strong leadership skills, deep knowledge of global QA strategy, product compliance and be able to assess and develop an effective organization, while championing a strong quality and food safety culture in all our suppliers.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

    • Build and lead a high-performing team of supplier quality assurance professionals.
    • Formulate strategic supplier objectives and metrics to demonstrate improvement and competitiveness.
    • Establish and uphold a comprehensive framework for ingredient risk assessments, coupled with a strategic auditing schedule to ensure ongoing diligence and proactive risk management. 
    • Continuously oversee and provide regular updates on performance objectives, while adapting goals as needed to align with overarching department and business objectives. 
    • Implement a dynamic feedback loop to ensure agility and responsiveness in optimizing performance metrics in support of organizational goals.
    • Organize and oversee food safety and quality audits of ingredient and packaging suppliers for qualification of new suppliers and conduct on-going supplier capability assessments through on-site visits to verify supplier’s performance. 
    • Provide direction to suppliers to drive continuous improvement on their quality systems based on findings and observations from audit reports, consumer complaints, non-conformances and market data. 
    • Develop & assure the effectiveness of the corrective and preventive action process (CAPA) within the framework of AG1’s Supplier Performance Management System. 
    • Track and follow-up on non-conformance issues with respective suppliers for corrective actions, prevention plans and continuous improvement. 
    • Successfully engage with cross-functional teams such as Product Development, Manufacturing, and Procurement, towards selection and management of suppliers. Develop and execute a comprehensive global product quality compliance strategy aligned with the AG1’s overall business objectives and values.
    • Stay up to date with relevant international regulations, standards, and industry best practices to ensure AG1 quality compliance practices are current and effective.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Development, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Legal/ Regulatory Affairs to integrate quality assurance compliance requirements throughout the product development lifecycle.
    • Cultivate a high-performance culture by offering coaching, mentoring, and development opportunities to team members.
    • Foster a culture of compliance and accountability within the team and across the AG1 organization.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

    • 12+ years of Supplier Quality related experience in the food, pharmaceutical or related manufacturing industry; preferably within the Dietary Supplement industry.
    • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in a science-based field (e.g. Biology, Microbiology, Food Science) Business, Engineering, Manufacturing, Environmental Science or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Demonstrated knowledge in GMP’s, GLPs, quality systems, HACCP, sanitation, and allergen management, as well as FDA regulations.
    • Certification in Six Sigma Black or Green Belt or equivalent preferred. 
    • Supplier Quality Assurance or Process Quality Audit - Auditor certification or equivalent. An advanced understanding of quality systems with an emphasis on auditing of suppliers/vendors. 
    • Effective analytical, negotiation, problem solving, excellent communication skills, attention to details and ability to work independently.
    • Strong knowledge of international product compliance regulations, standards, and testing protocols. (e.g. FDA, TGA, EMA, ISO, REACH, CPSIA, Proposition 65, etc.).
    • Excellent understanding of supply chain processes and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
    • Detail oriented, analytical and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
    • International and domestic travel required (up to 30%) including by air, ground and overnight. Willing and able to work additional hours when needed.

AG1 is dedicated to providing equitable and competitive compensation & benefits packages. For this particular role, the base salary range is $163,000 - $208,000 and will ultimately be decided at the offer stage, based on an individual candidate’s level of skills and experience aligned with the needs of this role. Base salary is only one component of total compensation for this position. We provide a competitive mix of base salary, performance bonus, and stock option allocation for eligible roles.
