In order to delight our millions of players across the globe, the Pokémon GO team requires motivated and skilled individuals to develop new features and look for creative ways to optimize a continually growing game.

We are seeking a Game Development Engineer with creative and technical expertise to help across a variety of live-game challenges and features. You will work with cross-functional partners and bridge technical and creative aspects of game development. You will leverage your curiosity and passion for mobile games to develop best in class game features.

Responsibilities:

  • Works as part of the Pokémon Go engineering team with cross functional partners in Business, Art & Design, Production and Marketing to develop and deliver on technology to improve Pokémon Go.
  • Design and implement scalable systems with a focus on flexibility and stability with a large and diverse player base.
  • Develop, adapt, and execute long-term technical strategy to achieve key business objectives
  • Analyze software for performance and improvements in a legacy codebase.
  • Facilitate communication between engineering, art, and design teams.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional team members and stakeholders, including regular and reliable attendance and participation in meetings.
  • Required in-office 2 days on Wednesday and Thursday.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working in game engines like Unity3D.
  • Experience programming in C#. C++/Java/Kotlin/Objective C/Swift also a plus.
  • You have experience shipping high performance games on Mobile, Console, or PC. Mobile preferred.
  • Experience working on multiplayer networked games.
  • Experience working with diverse cross disciplinary teams, and are able to work in an iterative and creative environment.
  • Ability to experiment and improve when it comes to tools, technology, and processes in engineering
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced hybrid environment and handle stress appropriately and/or ability to solve practical problems and be sufficiently adaptable to handle dynamic situations with little advance notice.
  • Experience working on cross-functional teams with ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal communications, including synchronous interactions with others.

  • You've shipped or supported geospatial gaming titles on Mobile.
  • You have Native/Graphics programming experience on Mobile.
  • You have experience with cloud networking backends and can embrace full stack development.
  • You have experience building AR or VR gameplay experiences.
  • A passion for Pokémon Go or games that bring communities together and encourage innovation and exploration.

The total compensation package for this position includes a new hire offer base salary range of $211,200-$247,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.

Individual pay within this salary range is determined by work location and additional factors, including assessed job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
