Lenus is looking for a Senior Legal Counsel for our New York Office.

As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will be a crucial part of a global data-driven company by advising and reducing legal complexity while allowing innovation to happen with respect to compliance. Your mindset is to build a modern legal department where boring manual tasks are eliminated with the advantage of automated processes giving you the time to deliver value on complex legal matters such as Litigation & Dispute resolution and advising Product teams on US regulations. Who are we looking for?

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all aspects of commercial, employment, intellectual property, contract, and litigation matters.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies for conflict resolution and mitigation, collaborating closely with internal teams and external legal counsel as needed.
  • Independently lead and support strategic projects within the Legal team and across various departments, especially concerning commercial projects in the US.
  • Engage in scenario planning and risk assessments to provide top management with a comprehensive view of potential legal risks and their implications on decision-making in the US.
  • Conduct legal research and stay abreast of industry developments to ensure the company’s practices remain cutting-edge and legally compliant.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including vendor, licensing, and partnership agreements in the US.
  • Offer practical and business-oriented legal advice by translating complex regulations into actionable steps and best practices pertaining to the company's digital content and products.

 

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the New York State Bar.
  • We expect 6+ years of experience practicing law, with a strong emphasis on commercial, employment, and corporate matters litigation and dispute resolution.
  • Experience from another technology company and/or a law firm dealing with a range of technology/SaaS related issues ideally across various US states.
  • As you will be working closely with commercial teams and the product- & tech teams, the ability to communicate complex issues to non-legal stakeholders is important.
  • You have a go-getter attitude and a desire to learn quickly, ready to hit the ground running and contribute to Lenus' success.
  • You enjoy having great autonomy and flexibility in your work life where you value the possibility to join a yoga class in the morning or a tennis match in the afternoon.

You will be a valued member of our close-knit team consisting of our Head of Legal & Compliance, Jonathan located in Copenhagen, whom you will report to, our US Legal Counsel, Tyler located in our New York office, whom you will sit next to, Our newly hired Senior Legal Counsel in Copenhagen as well as Our Legal Counsels, Veera and Anca, and our two Legal student assistants, Kristine and Clara also located in Copenhagen. Our team is driven by excellent cooperation and dynamic sparring. We take ownership of our projects, come up with new ideas and strive to deliver with the highest quality. Our team is trusted with a great amount of responsibility and we take pride in delivering straightforward solutions on complex legal matters.   • The base pay range for this role is between $125,000 and $155,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
