The Coordinator, Player Marketing is primarily responsible for supporting the organization and management of Player Marketing activations, with a focus on effective stakeholder communication, task execution and aiding in process improvement.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

  • 4 year degree from an accredited university in marketing, advertising, communications, business, or related field and 4+ years experience in marketing or related functional area; OR equivalent relevant experience 
  • Project management and/or consulting experience a plus
  • Proficiency in Excel + PowerPoint (Google Docs/Sheets)
  • Experience working directly with athletes (whether at a club, league or agency) strongly preferred
  • Baseball and sports enthusiast strongly preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Conducting Core Work Activities

  • Establish and maintain player agency communication and meeting cadence
  • Assist in internal reporting to inform stakeholders of latest Player Marketing activations
  • Aid internal stakeholders in understanding and following Player Marketing processes; streamline communication to the appropriate point people on the Player Marketing team
  • Interface with external stakeholders, specifically player agents, and help route requests and activations to the appropriate point people on the Player Marketing Team while tracking progress on inquiries and completion of request and projects
  • Identify areas of improvement and implement processes and procedures to increase efficiency
  • Assist in the management of the player marketing database to align players with marketing opportunities based upon their personal interests and connections (e.g. hobbies, charities, endorsements)
  • Help ensure key stakeholders are meeting deadlines on their deliverables 
  • Initiate, monitor and finalize contract process with Legal team on player contracts/agreements
  • Submit invoices to Finance’s Accounts Payable team; perform necessary follow-up and troubleshooting on any issues with vendor setup.
  • Assist in the tracking of ongoing projects and track metrics related to success.
  • Contribute to the execution and development of MSO (mission + strategy + objectives) and KPI (key performance indicators).
  • Aid in logistics related to player/former player activations and office visits:

Coordinate player transportation, lodging, and meals

Schedule all tours, meetings, workshops, and photo shoots, etc.

Arrange schedule and availability of internal resources necessary to participate in player office visits

Maintain Player Marketing calendar and ensure all relevant team members are aware of player visits and are available to present relevant branding resources, social content, and experience opportunities to the visiting player

  • Aid in tracking of MLB player ambassador program budgets to ensure they are being appropriately adhered to and tracked

  • Demonstrates understanding of business priorities
  • Develops specific goals and project plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work in support of business priorities
  • Collaborates with team members, internal/external partners, and stakeholders to execute against project objectives
  • Provides ongoing status updates to share progress against established goals, gaps, and support needs to maintain progress against project plans
  • Actively solicits stakeholder feedback and responds to concerns in a timely manner
  • Communicates in a clear and concise manner that is easy to understand

Per the NYC pay transparency law, the hiring range for this position is $58,500 - $65,000.

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills and any other factors Major League Baseball (MLB) considers relevant to the hiring decision. In addition to your salary, MLB believes in providing a competitive compensation and benefits package for its employees.
