Director, Portfolio Management

San Diego / San Mateo / San Francisco CA / Hybrid

We’re currently seeking a senior leader with portfolio management and process expertise to lead our Portfolio Management strategy and team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating and driving our product development portfolio management framework.

As Director, Portfolio Management with PlayStation, you will guide the team that is responsible for driving critical strategic portfolio and key processes over a worldwide scale. You will partner with teams and executives in product management, engineering, security, business, design, customer experience, marketing and more.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and grow a team to establish and drive a consistent portfolio management framework and process for PlayStation’s global product portfolio and future investments.
  • Work collaboratively with product development leaders across cross-functional areas to drive a seamless execution of the product portfolio strategy.
  • Leverage metrics and data and analyze key performance indicators effectively to report portfolio performance and inform investment decisions at the team or organizational level.
  • Establish and maintain a robust change management and governance process that engages senior leaders to validate and assess the portfolio, implement change, and reprioritize to meet business needs as required.
  • Create and manage a reporting process, including facilitating portfolio reviews and checkpoint meetings, for timely visibility and transparency on the health and status of the portfolio and its programs.
  • Identify potential risks and challenges within the portfolio and develop contingency plans to mitigate them. Escalate issues that threaten portfolio and project success as needed.
  • Contribute to the establishment of common practices and templates for portfolio and project management, including tools that streamline and create efficiencies for the planning, reporting and governance of the portfolio.
  • Lead and promote continual learning and process improvements to drive operational excellence.
  • Manage day-to-day Portfolio Management team’s activities and establish a working plan for each project phase; execute, assess success, and optimize process as needed.

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success managing large-scale, complex product portfolios in a product development or related field.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Product Development Lifecycle and methodologies.
  • Highly organized, self-driven, hands-on, and collaborative team player that takes initiative and can influence outcomes autonomously in a matrix organization and under pressure.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills; capable of effectively engaging with stakeholders at all levels and building strong cross-functional partnerships and long-term relationships.
  • Possess strong leadership skills, confirmed project management ability, and a positive approach in leading staff, stakeholders, and portfolio related issues.
  • Develops, motivates, and empowers direct reports and peers to make appropriate portfolio related decisions while fostering a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and mentorship.
  • Advocates for activities and practices that help boost overall employee engagement.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.
$218,700$328,100 USD
