Koa Health is growing and with this, we are thrilled to be looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to provide support to our General Counsel and the wider business. As our General Counsel’s primary hire, you will have the opportunity to work autonomously and take ownership as a key legal advisor across the breadth of Koa’s business and geographical reach with increasing focus on the US markets and commercial contracts. 

As we progress with our funding and client base, we expect this position to include recruiting, managing and developing additional team members.

You will:

  • Work autonomously hand in hand with the General Counsel; 
  • Be the primary point of contact for all business-as-usual legal advice: advising on a wide range of commercial contracts (including customer contracts, vendor contracts and strategic contracts with key commercial partners); product and service terms and conditions; trademark and intellectual property matters; and managing ad hoc legal queries from across Koa Health’s business;
  • Identify, create and manage increasingly essential legal operations initiatives ensuring the efficient and smooth running of Koa Health’s legal department;
  • Assist the General Counsel’s wider responsibilities including her role as Chair of the Risk Committee and Company Secretary and providing cover for the General Counsel as required; and 
  • Manage budgets and external legal support where appropriate.

About You

You have:

  • a minimum of 5 years of previous legal experience (including material experience in-house);
  • an English or US practicing certificate;
  • proven experience with English and US law commercial contract negotiation including a strong understanding of the associated data protection points;
  • proven experience of providing actionable, easy to understand advice to business colleagues on a broad variety of legal matters;
  • proven experience of designing, creating and implementing legal operations initiatives;
  • proven aptitude to working in a mainly remote, fast paced, agile environment; and
  • experience in a tech business, regulated business or clinical services (desirable).

Our salary intelligence, powered by our AI algorithms, has calculated an estimated range for this position between $70,000 - $130,000 . Please note that the actual salary for this position may vary, as it is dependent on various factors including but not limited to experience, location, and market dynamics.
